Sacrifice to the Dark Gods

I got the Black Legion supplement finally, after reading through it I was disappointed. Fluff was alright to read through but Iv no desire for running chosen or do I wish to take Abaddon. I do enjoy the Black Legion and will be painting my army accordingly, Iv played a few 500 pt games at my local gaming store and have decided to try out the 1500 games. Before the holidays I had made a list, after the feed back Iv received this is what Iv come up with.

Chaos Lord
-MoK
-Chaos Bike
-Votlw
-Axe of Blind Fury
-Sigil of corruption

Chaos Bikers x5
-Champion with Melta Bombs

Chaos Space Marines x10
-Plasma Gun x2
-Champion with Melta bomb
-Rhino with Havoc Launcher

Chaos Space Marine x10
-Plasma Gunx x2
-Champion with Melt Bomb
-Rhino with Havoc Launcher

Chaos Space Marine x10
-Close Combat Weapons
-Flamer x2
-Champion with Melta Bomb
-Rhino with Havoc Launcher

Chaos Terminators x5
-Combi-Plasma x5

Havoc Marines x8
-Autocannon x4
-Icon of Vengeance

Aegis Defense Line
-Quad Gun

Chaos Predator
-Side Lascannon
-Stock Autocannon

Total = 1497 pts

The plan for my Havocs is to sit in the back/objectives while working the Aegis Defense line. Champion working the Quad gun. Plasma Squads move to engage enemy/ Objectives while Melee marines engages the enemies heavy hitters and try to save my chaos lord as he goes hunting. Predator provides support for either group along with the Havocs. Terminators Deep strike, tear up the nearest unit. I wanted to run alot of cheaper unmarked groups, with Havoc support. Though I might switch out the CC Marines for another Plasma group. So far I only have one plasma group built and painted so I haven't wasted any money on the rest, appreciate any feedback.

Drop the additional numbers from the havoc squad, and make another squad just like it. Drop the predator, it's not as useful as you'd think. Drop the bikes too, and put a squad of 5 Spawn in. Give the lord a Juggernaught, it's just beautiful.

EDIT: The havoc launchers have to go, they are almost useless. Either keep the Rhinos bare, or give them dozer blades.

Havoc launchers aren't bad. They have 4 feet of range, are twin-linked and can be taken on nearly any vehicle in the CSM codex. You just need to synergize the unit that's taking them for maximum efficiency. Instead of giving them to just anyone, put them on a Rhino carrying a squad with a Missile Launcher. I regularly run 2 Rhinos with 2 Havoc Launchers each transporting 10 man squads of Noise Marines with Blastmasters. I get the most out of my small blasts by condensing them to a couple squads rather than spreading them throughout my army. Not everyone will agree with this method, but people will also tell you not to bring Rhinos. Just because a model/weapon isn't OP doesn't mean it's useless.

I would consider swapping out the plasmas in one of the CSM squads for Meltas to get some more anti-armor. Relying on just the Pred/Melta bombs is not enough imo.

I would drop the Havoc Launchers from 2 of the 3 Rhinos. Keep the Rhino with the Havoc Launcher guarding a home plate objective while the other two rush up. If you're using your Havoc Launcher, you're only moving 6" so you're not getting your Troops squads to the objectives. If they get stranded in your deployment zone because the Rhino got popped (and a strong gust of ass-wind can pop a Rhino) then you are SOL.

I'm not a fan of the Termies either. Chaos termicides are overpriced and under-perform unless you put an icon on them, and if you're doing that they are even MORE grossly overpriced. Drop the Termies in favour of a Heldrake. I'm betting the Heldrake will make it's points back and then some, and I doubt the Termies could do the same.
