Hello Dakka!

So I am a totally new player to 40k, havent played a single game and dont know the rules too well so we will see how this ends.. Been checking out others lists and what I'm trying to make is a basic list of 1k pts that can be pretty ok vs most opponents while im learning the rules and learning the game on a little smaller scale, I dont expect to win but want a decent list where I atleast can put up a fight for more than 2 rounds..

Also want it to later expand to 1750 pts while hopefully being able to not have to replace to many units of the core army for the sake of my economy.. I also want to try a list where there is a lot of different units/models to make the hobby aspect in painting and collecting funnier.

So the list I came up with.. :

Flyrant, 2x TL devourers 230

30x Termagants 120

1x Troup Tervigon 195

3x Warrior, barbed 100

3x Warrior, barbed 100

2x Zoanthrope 100

2x venomthrope 90

1x Hive guard 55


Acording to my calculator this list is 990 pts.

Rarely see Hive guards in the lists people are posting, have they gone bad or are there just units more worth the points ?(I guess thats the same thing... -.-' ) I thrown mine in anyway couse its one of the few models I have bought so far, same goes with having 6 warriors.

Some upgrades I should make sure to get?

Maby the hive guard and 3 of the warriors should be replaced with some MC heavy support monster? Or should I maby try to get another swarm of termos instead for 3 of the warrior, maby getting number of models up is better on lower points?

Also would love some advise on what MCs that could be a good addition for this army, maby a Mawloc to put some pressure from nowhere while my troops are moving forward.

Currently I just own 6 warriors, 12 termos, 1 tervigon and a hive guard, so I am very open to suggestions what to put on the shopping list but using all these figs in the army I already own would be nice for a start.

I like your list quite well. I would not remove the hive guard yet. Try to play with the army and see what you like to play with. And also see how it performs.

Ps: ad a template thorax weapon to the tervigon.

It's not bad. Run the Zoanthropes separately for more chances at powers,and find something to invest those last 10 points in. An extra ranged weapon for the Tervigon would not be bad.
