Hey everyone,

At the risk of sounding like every other new WarMachines player ever, I am wondering about my army.

I have played Warmachines for about a month. When I started I bought the 2 Player Battle box with Menoth and Khador. then i immediately bought a judicator. So with this, where should I take my Menoth army. I dont want a broken cookie cutter army but i still want to be able to win games. Where would you go with the menoth next?

Well who grabs your attention most as a caster is a good place to start. Oldf man Sevvy? Feisty Thyra? Burnt Feora? Wacky Amon?

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

First off, there is no such thing as "broken cookie cutter" lists.

Second, you need to get the basics. Your enthusiasm is nice but a Colossal right away can be a bit much for a newbie to handle.

You need to pick up the staples. Choir and Vassals. Every menoth list should have them. They are what makes Menoth tick as a faction, Jack support. I'd also pick up a Reckoner and one of our main infantry units. Either Zealots, Temple Flameguard, or Errants. All with their respective UA of course. You'll eventually have all 3 but 1 is plenty to learn on.

A second caster is also a good idea for branching out. eFeora is the hotness with the Judicator, her bond makes all its attacks have Auto-fire. Which makes it an infantry clearing machine as well as being able to punch heavies in the face.

Other good secondary casters are pSeverius and Harbinger. If you get Severius you'll need to pick up Blessing of Vengeance(his character revenger jack) for him to channel spells through.

And welcome to the Iron Kingdoms. Here is your complimentary Menofix and Crusader plushie. Or if you like we also have the Feora body pillow, only $19.99!

If you don't have the Choir yet it should be your next purchase, no if, and or buts about it. Buy a Choir.

After you buy the choir you have some choices.

Do you want another jack? Get a Reckoner

Do you want some units? Errants are arguably the best infantry in Menoth. If I were to start a Menoth army they would be my third purchase after the Choir(first purchase) and a caster(second purchase)

Do you want a couple of solos? maybe a Paladin of the Order of the Wall or a Covenant of Menoth

Are you planning on playing competitively? As much as it pains me to say this because nobody wants to see her across the table, pick up the Mercenary solo Eiryss, Angel of Retribution

Other than that check out the wiki http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiiprotectorate which is a great resource for beginning players, though some of their conclusions are debatable, the general information is almost always correct.

Man, how come no one told me about the Feora dakimura?

As also Grey Templar said, get the Choir and Vassals of Menoth. This is not a suggestion, it is pretty much almost a requirement if you are going to play Menoth. Units, as Grey Templar said before, get one of the main ones to start with and their respective UA, although here is a rundown of each unit:

Exemplar Errants: Versatile Tarpit unit that is good in both ranged and melee, as well as holding Zones and Objectives. You can also choose who dies in the unit (expect under some effects), and their UA gives them Pathfinder and Quick Work, making them much more mobile and threating.

Temple Flameguard: Another staple Tarpit unit for Menoth, although a bit cheaper over the Errants. A little faster than Errants, but not as mobile, but they make up for this with by having Shield Wall, and with their UA and their Minifeat 'Iron Zeal' and Defender's ward from pKreoss or pSeverius, they can potentially go up to ARM 23.

Zealots: A flanking/Jamming unit, and not great statwise than the two above. However, the thing that makes these crazed fanatics shine is the Fire Bomb (a little AOE with short range that can potentially clear out something) and their UA's Minifeat, Greater Destiny, which means you cannot be damaged and kill unless it is a spell or feat (or just feat if you put up warding). They can be nasty when pKreoss can get mileage out of his feat and can be really scary with pSeverius under eye of Menoth,

Another mention of solos you might like that go along with them is the Covenant of Menoth and Rhupert Carvolo, which provide great synergy as well in terms of making them more of a Tarpit/Jamming unit.

Big Fat Gospel of Menoth

The other side of the internet

For the Judicator: eFeora is noted for having a strong synergy with the Judicator. pSevy works with everything and the +1 damage means the blasts you throw out have a bit more oomph. Reclaimer won't mind having a powerhouse jack that is focus efficient since he only has 5 to give. There really aren't any casters that gripe too much over the Judicator, you just need to make sure it's supported. You need a vassal of menoth to throw ancilary attack on the Judicator. Firing 3 rocket pods or an extra melee attack NEVER hurts. Choir is necessary as well for the obvious reasons.

Menoth has a surplus of fantastic casters. pSevvy is one of the all around best to represent the faction with his overall buff, defensive upkeep, and offensive spells. He's also relatively simple to use. eFeora is probably better with the Judicator.

On the bigboards there was a pretty decent guide to starting Menoth. Like others have said the Choir is essential, as is a Vassal of Menoth for a solo. For a first unit, Zealots or Errants are both solid gold. Personally I prefer the shenadigans of Zealots with their SPD6 and mini feat, not to mention their offensive output. (Never forget that an AOE can only deviate half the distance of the shot!)

Gorman is a merc solo that works beautifully with Zealots, too.
