A new attempt at a Tyranid list for you all to take a look at. Any C+C very welcome.

Tyrant: LW+BS, AG,
Guard(2): AG,

Zoans(2):
Hiveguard(2):
Hiveguard(2):

Warriors(3): 1 x strangler,
Warriors(3): 1 x strangler,
H-gaunts(25):
T-gants(15): Devs,
T-gants(15): Devs,
T-gants(30): Spike rifles,

Shrikes(3): R-claws, AG, FH,
Shrikes(3): R-claws, AG, FH,

Carnifex: AG,
Carnifex: AG,
Mawloc,

The idea is to have the tyrant and the horma's as a fast moving front line. Possibly flanked by the fexes. The devil-gants/warriors/h-guard form 2 shooty groups able to lay out some fire power. Again each possibly supported with the fexes.
The Zoans aim for a mid-table objective and sit there with 30 spike-gants. The Mawloc basically just gets lobbed at who/whatever takes my fancy. Shrikes are fast moving synapse/assault support units for me, filling in when/where i need them.

While not quite being top tier i still believe this list will give almost anybody a fight. Now you may say where are the flyers etc? Well we aint got many round here thankfully but eddie my flyrant aint far away.

Again any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers.

Dump 1 group of HG and buy 1 group of Venom. Cover save will save your army charging in.

I'd mix and match the Termagants slightly. Nice to have the cheaper ones die before the Devourer gaunts.

But i like it. Avoiding Flyrants and Venomthropes is something i'd like todo.

I completely understand wanting to do something original but avoiding some of our best units just cause its overused will cost you some games, in a friendly setting yea its a good list but you take it anywhere even remotely competitive and the sheer lack of anti air in this list will hurt you severely. I also know the tervigon was way over played aswell last codex and that its been nerfed to hell and back but what other race gets a scoring monster that spawns more scoring, its nothing like it was but still no race has anything that compares to it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Atleast one tervigon will always find a home in my lists.

I would run the Shrikes as one brood and I would mix the the spike rifle sin with the devourers to keep your best shooting around longer.

Hi all thanks for the feed back.

@eskimo: That was another choice i had. I think in the long term you are right but at the moment that's just the way the squads are painted.

@FeindusMaximus: Once i get some they will more than likely be included because i don't think HG work in less than 3 bug units.

@sykl: Its not because they are over used I have never owned a trygon its as simple as that. I never needed one and my nids were a terrifying force throughout the whole of 5th without it.

@barnowl: I am tempted to try that but at the moment i like the flexibility of 2.

Once again cheers. I will hopefully get to play it over the weekend and I will post up a report and any insights gained.
