I haven't played 40k for about nine years but I decided to get back into it. I always envied the 'crons so I decided to start new with them.

I picked up a batleforce and am going to build up from there. This is a basic 1000 point list I think might be fun to try and I would like to see any opinions or critiques you might (hopefully) have.


1000 points:

HQ- 160 points
Overlord w/ warscythe, mind Shackle Scarabs, Sempiternal Weave, res orb

Troop- (675 points)
Warrior * 10 in ghost arc (245 points)
Warrior * 10 in ghost arc (245 points)
Immortals (gauss) * 5 in night scythe (185 points)

Fast Attack- 75
Scarab swarm * 5

Heavy Support- 90
Annihilation Barge


My plan is to run a very mobile list (not the classic phalanx but I think it could be fun). I'd use the gauss rules to take out pretty much everything (most importantly tanks) assisted by the A barge to give support. I can maybe get rid of a warrior and throw the overlord in one of the arc's or just put him in the night scythe with the Immortals.

So... any suggestions. Should I just scrap the list and start anew??? any help is greatly appreciated.

I would drop the second Ghost Ark in favor of another Annihilation Barge, because they rule. Super cheap and excellent shooting platform. Use the extra points to beef up your Immortal squad.

You list looks a good start - You are limited to what models you have and I think the Overlord's upgrades might be a little wasted on the Immortals but a good start regardless.

I'll offer you a slightly different list that will save you the $ on a second ghost Ark by getting a box of Lychguard instead. debateable which is better but something for you to think about anyway!

So you are limited to:

5 Immortals/Deathmasks
20 Warriors
Ghost/Doomsday Ark
5 Scarabs

+Minimum extra to reach 1000pts.

I would suggest something like the below as a start. This is certainly not the most optimal 1000pt build but it gives you a good variety of units to try and will do well enough against most (although it might be a little light on troops!):

HQ
Overlord, WS,MSS,SW,ReOrb (with 11 warriors) - 160
Royal Court:
- Harbinger of Despair (with Deathmasks) - 30
- Harbringer of Destruction (with 9 Warriors) - 35
- Harbringer of Destruction (with 11 Warriors) - 35

Elite
5 x Deathmasks, Night Scythe - 195

Troop
9 x Warriors, Ghost Ark - 232
11 x Warriors - 143

Fast Attack
5 x Scarabs - 75

Heavy Support
ABarge - 90

Most people find the Night Scythe and ABarge are the 2 most cost effective and awesome things in the codex.

For this list you will need to buy 1 x ABarge, 1 x Night Scythe and a box of Lychguards.

The ABarge box comes with a Overlord/Lord model on foot and you can convert the Lychguards into Crypteks and it leaves you with a couple of spare models for when you expand.

Second list looks cool too. I never thought of bringing a royal court. plus it seems like a little less money which is always nice.
