So I am joining an Escalation League at my local gaming store and I play space wolves. Here is the list that i came up with. i don't know what to spend the last 100 points on. Other then that its a pretty generic list but let me know any comments or recommendations. Along with what I should maybe add with the next 500 points. As a side note there is prizes in this league so if i can win that is a major plus.

Long fangs Are Amazing due to their split fire, either some cheaply outfitted long fangs or perhaps a lasback?

Drop 1 Grey Hunter from or squad, put both in Drop Pods. Add 2 Meltaguns to one squad and a Plasma to the other. That'll leave you 30 points, I'd buy Terminator Armor for the Rune Priest, and the last 10 can go towards whatever you want.

Not a bad suggestion.

Do you have to keep the units from your 500pt list in the next 1000pt? Can edit the units or so they have to be exactly the same?
If not I'd strongly consider long fangs, if you do have to keep units the same though you might be a bit tight for points getting 5 MLs in there...

My suggestion would be to go with Waaaghpower's pod idea, but consider taking divination over the SW powers, I find it more useful anyway. Oh and make sure the rune priest has a force axe (no extra cost) for that extra AP2 goodness. (Leave the long fangs for next 500 - take 6 w 5x ML)

Also, keep the priest in runic armour because if you take TDA he can't go in a pod w the 9 man plas hunter squad. With your extra 30pts, give each hunter squad a power axe. Power axes on hunters or blood claws are awesome coz they don't just get mashed first combat in a challenge (they're not characters!).

Something like this (I apologise for the spammy nature of my posting):
HQ
Rune Priest - divination (100)

TROOPS
10 Grey Hunters - 2 meltas, power axe, DP (205)
9 Grey Hunters - plas, power axe, DP (195)

TOTAL: 500pts (exactly)

I don't know about Power Axes, but otherwise that list looks good. My only problem with them is cost vs damage, but it's actually far better than power fists because you get more attacks.

This is a good list. With the remaining 30 points I would give your Rune Priest a Chooser of the Slain and Meltabombs in addition to a Power Axe for one of the Grey Hunters. That's likely the best use of those points.

So I thought I understood what you were saying befor ebut I just got it. I thought you were saying I should take the LF but you said wait till the next 500 which made sense to me in my head but I was like huh. But know reading over your list seems good. One question so since everyone will be in a drop pod can I start a game with no troops on the table and should I always DS next to the enemy or maybe somtimes away from him like my guys would get fethed by korn berzerkers I think in cc

If everything is in the drop pods then nothing starts on the table.

In your first turn half the drop pods rounding up will come in, so in your case 1 drop pod.

You can put the drop pod wherever you want but be prepared for scatter, so you can go for an objective or go close to a dangerous unit etc or drop somewhere out the way in safety. Whatever you want to do. A lot will be dictated by your opponents deployment.

The only downside is that the other drop pod is a reserve unit, so make sure you can weather a round or 2 without any back up because they will feel the brunt of your opponents full firepower until the other unit turns up and you could get tabled before they do.

Also remember that you cannot assault on the turn your drop pod shows up so that first turn is shooting only.

Is it worth giving the drop pod a missile launcher fro 2 krak missile shots? You can use it to wreck a tank or transport and use the hunters and RP to kill whatever clambers out maybe.
