Hey guys! I've been playing with a similar list at 1750 points for a while now and the list is suprisingly effective against some of the top armies out there, as long as you don't make mistakes. Now I'm bumping it up to 1850, as we're slowly shifting to play at that point level and I'm looking for some thoughts on what do you think I could change. I'm playing a Iyanden supplement because of the Warlord traits, which are amazing and the ability to make Wraithknight my Warlord, which is great against some armies and not so good against others.

1850 Eldar(Iyanden supplement):

HQ:
Autarch: Eldar jetbike, Banshee Mask, Fusion Gun, Scorpion's Chainsword, Shard of Anaris - 143
Farseer: Singing Spear, Eldar Jetbike - 120

Troops:
3 Windrider Jetbikes: Shuriken Cannon - 61
3 Windrider Jetbikes: Shuriken Cannon - 61
6 Rangers - 72
10 Dire Avengers - 130
+ Wave Serpent: Scatterlasers, Shuriken Cannon - 130

Fast Attack:
6 Swooping Hawks: Exarch - 106
8 Warp Spiders: Exarch, Fast Shot, Spinneret Rifle - 187
8 Shining Spears: Exarch, Star Lance, Monster Hunter, Hit and Run - 240

Heavy Support:
Falcon: Brightlance, Holofields - 150
3 War Walkers: 6 Scatterlasers - 210
Wraithknight: 2 Heavy Wraithcannons - 240

I'm wondering whether I should move some points around and get the Wraithforge stone on the Farseer and whether or not I should take 10 Warp Spiders instead of 8 + Exarch. I've had mixed results with the Spinneret Rifle and sometimes it was well worth 35 points, while sometimes it just wasn't.

I also feel like I have to justify the Falcon, that I use because of it's synergy with the rest of my list, namely providing some much needed protection against flamers and other Ignores Cover weapons for my Rangers and the fact my list struggles against AV13 spam in general. I have a lot of tools against LRs, mind you, what I'm struggling against are the SM/CSM Predators, Tau and Necron vehicles. Guided Falcon can also double up as AA platform if it has to, with 3 S8 AP2 shots. I could just take a Nightspinner instead, but it just gives me more of what I already have and can't even target the flyers.

Tell me what you think.

Austin, Texas.

I think you should drop the falcon in favor of a waveserpnt and before you start thinking im just judging again let me explain why. If you drop the scatter lasers on the war walker and trade them for bright lances, you have plenty of anti tank. (or more anti av 13 as waveserpnts can deal with the rest) If your scared about your rangers getting burned then just keep them in reserve as long as possible with your autarch. Second, waveserptns can provide actually pretty good anti air.

The only other thing i would recomend trading from your list is the warp spider exarch in favor of more warp spiders.

Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.

Don't worry, everyone will have different opinions, nothing wrong with saying them, especially as I specifically asked for them.

I'll go from the start: I only own Scatterlasers for my War Walkers and although I could order some bits from Ebay, the thing is, I love Scatterwalkers. I've used them for years with the same setup. And I'll tell you why:

Scatterlasers are one of the few options I consider valid for War Walkers. Others include:

Starcannon/Scatterlaser - great if you don't have Farseer support or are playing in a MEQ heavy environment.

Brightlance/Brightlance - great AT platform, but usually it's an overkill. If I used this combo, I'd probably use a squad of 2.

Problems: Much less of a threat except vs anything that is <T4 and sporting 2+ save, or AV 13+. Easier to ignore for a lot of armies than Scatterwalkers, and a priority target for armies that have a lot of 2+ saves or AV13+ vehicles.

Shuriken Cannon/Shuriken Cannon - cheap, effective, but expensive for 24" range guns on AV10 open-topped walkers.

With all of those other options, their targets are more specialized, making them lose effectiveness as soon as they run out of their prefered targets. That's also why I'm vehemently opposed to mixed weapons, except the SL/SC combo, since you're the same S, same range and you gain the benefit of laser-lock. In other cases, you're always paying for something you don't get, whether it's range, strength or AP.

With Scatterlasers, you'll always have something to shoot. In fact, in about 5 years I've played with my Walkers, I never ran out of targets for those 24 S6 shots. There's just so much versatility in there that I'm incredibly biased towards this loudout.

Second problem with exchanging a Falcon for another Serpent is what will I put in it? I'm really not a fan of DAVU. I'm paying points for something that will probably never fire. Plus, I'm of the belief that to really utilize a Wave Serpent, for which you're paying for that 12-man transport capacity, you should use a full squad. The different between 5-man squad in a Serpent vs a 10-man squad in a Serpent is only 1/4 of the points increase of the whole thing for 1/2 effectiveness of the squad.

As for Warp Spiders, well, I'll playtest it, for sure and see how I like it. I'm usually running a 10-man Spider unit, but what I found is that with them, I usually lose a few to random enemy blast scatter or I don't manage to hide just that one or two behind a ruin. It's a squad that really likes to dance just along the edge of the dangerzone and a full squad seems too unwieldy to me. Ideally, I'd use 2 5 or 6 man squads, but there's no room for that in my FA slots. So we'll see if I'll stick with the Exarch or just go with 10 regular.
