Sooo, last edition I played a drop spore list, that is now out the window. I'm just thankful that I never bought Tervis. I only play in friendly games in a very low-netlist environment so I don't need to be able to take out triptides, wraithknights etc. My meta has a vanilla marines (non mech), grey knights (one dreadknight, no mech), blood angels (mech), dark eldar, space wolves (foot) and tau (semi mech, farsight). All non-optimised lists. All I need to be able to do is compete enough not to get laughed out of my own club. Shouldn't be too difficult right?

I know what you're thinking - no flyrants right? From having played Fatey's Flying Circus for a while, I am very worried about the ability of two monstrous creatures to stay alive whilst on the wing and not get shot down. Plus, with wings they would leave the rest of my army behind to collapse due to lack of synapse. Instead, they are advancing up the field with protection from the guard - they'll be on de-meching duty when I go up against a list with rhinos.

The carpet of gants will advance in front of the thropes, behind the aegis line (across the midfield), for a nice cover save against everyone but tau. Genestealers infiltrate right up to the line and cast the Horror, assaulting anything that gets too close.

What do you reckon, am I barking up the wrong tree?

The list looks ok and the idea is sound the only problem you have is synapse. Dedicated shooting armies will pound at your two tyrants even with guard I don't see them lasting two turns against a dedicated shoots list and then your gants will just be unreliable

I did think about going for two units of zoanthropes and one unit of venoms, for more synapse/ anti tank?

The two really shooty armies I face are dark eldar - who will have cover saves to contend with, and farsight, which I think may just be a no-hoper.

If you're facing dark eldar go with flyrants

I have magnetized the wings, so if I know I'll be going against DE I could take the flyrants, but against bolters/stormbolters the flyrants will fair worse.
