Hi all,

The release of the new Vanguard dataslate gives some interesting new options for an army that reflects the early stages of a Tyranid invasion, and I'm keen to try and put that to the test. How about the following for a 2000 point list?

Hive Tyrant (Warlord)
Wings, Lash Whip/Bonesword, Scything Talons, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacks, Shreddershard Thorax Swarm
255

Hive Tyrant

1997 total

This gives me a small and fairly resilient backfield objective camping force I can use to play for table control (Tervigon, Termagants, Venomthrope) and an enormous number of up-front MSU units to stuff down my opponent's throat. Deathleaper and five individual Lictors will take a surprising amount of effort to kill off (six units' worth of shooting, at least), and then there are the Genestealers too. It's especially nice that the Broodlord's uunit get to choose which enemy they are going to have PE on after they deploy, so you can choose something nearby and really go for it. Whatever survives the first turn will be joined by the Tyrants and (hopefully) the Trygon on the second turn, and then the slaughter begins.

I'm aware that a list like this will suffer against an enormously flyer-heavy army (but then who doesn't?), but I'm feeling pretty good about target saturation at least. Plus, opponents will likely be testing on -3 for the Horror, -1 for Psychic Scream, Deathleaper can give an enemy psyker up to -4 if he's close by and so on, so it is very disruptive. It should be total chaos.
