So, I've amassed over 5000 points of Ultramarines, and I wanted a change of pace. I always wanted to make my own Chapter, and will start a new one shortly. However, my Ultramarines army isn't well optimised, I literally took some of the worst units in there and I never tend to use them. I don't want to make similar mistakes, so when I do this, I'm generally looking for the more competitive units in the current Codex. Excluding biker spam. I just don't like their aesthetic. So, I'll choose either UM/IF/BT Chapter Tactics when I use them and this is what I was thinking about:

HQ- Chapter Master with Burning Blade, Shield Eternal, artificer armour and storm bolter (that's just fluffy, but is it legal?) = 255 (260 if the storm bolter is legal)

Elites- Terminator Assault Squad with 5x Storm Shields and Thunder Hammers = 225

Troops- Tactical Squad (10) with plasma gun, heavy bolter, combi-plasma and Rhino = 210

Tactical Squad (10) with plasma gun, heavy bolter, combi-plasma and Rhino = 210

Tactical Squad (5) with meltagun, combi-melta and Razorback (Heavy Bolter) = 145

Heavy Support- Centurion Devastator Squad with 3x grav-cannons and grav-amps = 250

Stormraven Gunship with twinlinked multimeltas and lascannons = 200

Total- 1500 (1495 if no storm bolter)

So, I wasn't too sure about the Tacts, I have no idea what to arm them with. I'm not into Drop Pod Tacticals, if I take a Drop Pod, it'll be for the Sternguard I'll get later. But, of course, any help in making this a competitive TAC list will be much appreciated, and as an extra reward, I'll name the squads after you! (Compulsive disorder, don't ask.)

Maybe drop a 10 man tactical squad in exchange for a thunder fire cannon and a five man sniper scout squad with camo cloaks to camp an objective in some bolstered defenses ruins.

Oh and I am pretty sure its a no go on the storm bolter, although I have seen a lot of debate on here about it.

Okay, I'll drop the storm bolter. Would dropping the five-man squad for the Thunderfire be better though? The points allow it, and I still get 50 points to spare. Maybe an Aegis Defence Line, or something else?

Up to you, but I just have a liking for small teams in razorbacks.
Either way you end up with 20 scoring models and a thunder fire cannon.
An aegis could be useful too.

I might add that 5 man squad later if I choose to make it 2000 points. I'll probably take that Aegis, there's not much else at 50 I can get! Unless I can find the points to make a Librarian.

Any thing I could drop to make that or is an Aegis just fine?
