So my list I ranked 5/8...where did I go wrong? One game I did ok vs CSM khorne Allie deamons, next I lost vs blood angels and final I got tabled vs imperial guard mech list/ 3 vendettas and CSM allies Heldrake ... Please help.

Chaos lord- MoN, palaquin of nurgle, plasma pistol
Deamon prince- DoT, 3 psyker, spell familiar, black mace, wings, power armor
2 squads Plague marines x10 2 meltas, meltas bomb, rhino havoc launcher
1 squad plague marines- 10x -gift of mutation
Heldrake baleflamer
2x obliterators-MoN
2x obliterators-MoN

I think it's a good list, and probably only needs a few small tweaks.

I would drop the Plasma Pistol from the Chaos Lord, and reduce the Plague Marine Squads to a fluffy 7-man size EXCEPT for the 10-man Squad that the Chaos Lord is going with. Keep that one 10-strong.

6 less Plague Marines, 1 less Plasma Pistol, and drop the Gift of Mutation and the Melta Bombs, and you have enough to buy a second Heldrake. A pair of Heldrakes is a killer combo. They always make back their points if played effectively with Baleflamers, and they keep most of the fire on them, which means less fire on the Daemon Prince and Chaos Lord.

Are you deep striking your Oblits? Or do you plant them in cover?

I plant the oblits always in cover. I was told to drop the rhinos, to easy of points for first blood. Also got the same advise about the fluffy 7. Is the daemon too pricey?

The 3 vendettas and Heldrake rocked my face off after my obliter were gone. I had no answers, 4 flyers where able to slowly eat my plague marines while his 5 chimeras and 4 rocket thing bent me over the table...
