Hey dakka!

Some friends and I have made an rpg system, to tailor specifically to modern high crime. It is nameless at the moment, but basically there are about 50 criminal and about 80 non criminal careers. Each player picks a former career, and a current career. They then pick 2 virtues 3 vices, and a list of 5 contacts.
Its a percentile system with difficulties. So for example, a car hacker would get something like +20% lock picking, +30% hotwiring... then the gm sets a difficulty of 30,50,70,90, or 110. If you reach or beat the assigned difficulty, you succeed.

Now that you know a bit about the system, I'm going to tell you about the players.
We have: a professional computer hacker, a former businessman turned gangster (solo), and a fence who works at a car dealership.

So what would be some fun campaign ideas to toss around for this group? I think they could build up to a bank heist some how.... but the process of getting there is kind of hard to see.

What type of criminal activity would appeal to a low level criminal, a high profile hacker, and a fence?

Let me know!
give me some good ideas dakka

Thanks
Austin

As with any RPG, you absolutely need a hook... Why in any world would a hacker, gangster, and a fence team up?

Are they hired by some Italian, or Eastern European Boss of some type to do various work for them? Did Jim Moriarty hire them? Did they just happen to meet up at the local "criminal's bar"??

The hacker and the fence are cousins who do the occasional odd job together, and the gangster was recently hired on as an advisor through one of the guys that the cousins work for. They met on a jewel heist. The hacker disabled security, thugs rushed the place, the gangster was on getaway, then the fence did his job, getting them all paid. So they are acquainted already.

I'll second Ensis Ferrae on having a hook.

If, say, these three we're led by and were betrayed by a powerful crime boss, it could be something like trying to take revenge on the crime boss. As the story builds up, you find out he's seized a bank as his new headquarters. This heist could be both an attempt to kill the crime boss and an attempt at one of the biggest bank heists in history.
