I was helping my parents clear out their house in preparation for a garage sale and found 2 binders full of Star Trek TNG card game cards, they must be from about 20 years ago as i remember collecting them in 4th grade. I don't remember much about the game other than my friends mom flipping out when i played some card that let me keep one of his cards when I won. I have a ton of federation characters and ships as well as some Romulans and Klingons as well but barley remember the rules.

Does anyone still play that game and if so will cards that old still be playable as from what I've gathered they are 1st edition out of about 7 or 8. I found the rules online and the wife and I might give it a go, is it even worth playing? I highly doubt they are worth anything but will keep them as they were my first foray into gaming.

Are you talking about Star Trek Customizable Card Game by Decipher?

If so...I played that when it first came out in 1994. I still have all of my cards stored in boxes and binders. I have about 4 or 5 of the expansions complete. Several thousand cards. I stopped collecting though, but I know the game came out with many more expansions before dying.

I mainly started it because Magic was already established and I didn't want to play catch-up with buying tons of cards.

That was my favorite CCG when I still played card games.

I still have all my sets. I would love to start playing again but I don't have any of the extra cards I would need to build usable decks.

Borg FTW!!

I played back in it’s early days. My recollection was that gameplay was massively unbalanced in favor of the rare cards. If you owned better cards then your opponent, you basically got to win. Now this is always going to happen to some extent, but I recall Star Trek being particularly bad about it. IIRC there was no casting cost or other mitigating factor, so why not put the whole bridge crew in your deck if you owned them, they will just kick the snot out of no-name redshirts.

True. An elite crew means you can just storm through Missions and Dilemma cards.

I found some ways to stop this with cards that time warp vessels out for a few turns.

I've trolled Amazon and Ebay...thought about completing the series for my personal fun.

But, those funds would take away from 40K...or X-Wing....or my Cars lol.

Most exciting pack for ST:CCG I ever opened was the 2nd expansion...Alternate Universe and there it was.....a Future Enterprise. An Ultra Rare. I still have it along with all of my cards.

Side note: anyone play Galactic Empires?
