Hiya, I picked up Xerxis for our local Journeyman league and will be doing weekly updates to help keep track of my progress.

8 wins 1 loss.

Points:
7 wins x 3 points per win
1 loss at 2 points per loss
3 hobby points

Games past weekly 'game limit' - you can play more games but only get points for the first 8 week 1 and first 4 after that
1 win
0 loss

Week 1:

Battlegroup only

Xerxis
Gladiator
Archidon
~ 10 points

Honestly not much to these games, All of the games I had the same basic game plan, Activate Xerxis, cast rush and Defenders Ward on the Archidon, camp 1 and walk/charge him forward. Archidon runs, and Gladiator casts Rush and charges.
The Archidon goes up the sides and targets lights and threatens to get behind the caster and makes them commit enough recources to defend against him sneaking up in the back arc. The Gladiator goes after their heavy and kills it. Xerxis kind of sits back behind the Gladiator and plays it kind of safe, juggling buffs until near the end of the game when he comes forward to anchor.

Game 1:
Irusk, Spriggan Devestator
Slow vs not as slow, we both run towards each other and bottom of turn 2 he commits both his devestator and Irusk to killing the Archidon, the devastator slams it max distance away from my caster so he's out of control. He does manage to get his spriggan to charge my Gladiator, but with a little luck on my end for dice the gladiator survives with all systems.
Turn 3, my Fury'd Gladiator wipes out his spriggan with fury to spare, Xerxis activates I cast inhospitable ground to keep his Devastator and Irusk are on the far side. The Archidon frenzy's and charges the Devastator and manages to do 1 damage.
He activates the Devastator and attempts to make it to my Gladiator, but thanks ot Inhospitable Ground he doesn't quite make it. Irusk try's to kill the Archidon but fails.
Turn 4:
I activate Xerxis, move him up to get the Archidon in his control, pop feat and apply the Archidon to Irusks face killing him.

Game 2:
Thyra, Repenter, Revenger, Crusader
First two turns are basically the same as the previous game. He uses his lights to set the Gladiator on fire and to screen Thyra, whilst the Crusader goes after the Archidon.
I kill the Revenger bottom of turn 2 with the gladiator.
Top of turn three
He pops feat and charges Xerxis with Thyra, but doesn't quite make it.
Xerxis pops feat and does a combo smite, boosts to hit, moves her back 1" and knocks her down. Gladiator can't quite get to her, but the Defenders Warded Archidon charges(taking a couple of free strikes that miss,) get behind her and finish her off.

Game 3:
Reznik, Reckoner, Guardian

Turn 1.
I feth up
Same turn 1 as other games however I forget to move Xerxis up. Guess which of my two beasts are out of control?
Turn 2:
I fail both frenzy checks(rolled a 9 and a 11 on the dice) and they run even farther out of Control.
Reckoner and Guardian combine to kill the Gladiator
I scoop.

Game 4:
Syntherion, Cipher, inverter, Galvanizer
Pretty easy game for never facing CoC before. There was a nice large forest in the middle of the board which I was able to hide my models in as all three have inborn pathfinder
Turn 1:
I do the same thing as the previous games
He puts Synergy up on Syntherion and Reconstruct on the Inverter and runs them up
Turn 2:
I position myself in the middle of the zone, the Cipher and the Inverter could charge my Gladiator but I chose to move over Defenders Ward so whilst I would eat the charge, I felt perfectly safe. The Archidon is hiding 12" away in the forest, a bit out of control but he's has no fury so I'm not worried.
He charges with both the Cipher and Mitigator but my gladiator easily survives thanks to Defenders Ward. I can't remember what the Galvanizer did exactly but it was completely ineffective.
Turn 3:
The Gladiator then kills the Inverter, it reconstructs and the Archidon charges in to kill it a second time. This gives Xerxis a charge lane to Syntherion he puts fury on himself, pops feat and charges. I bet you can't guess what happens next.

Game 5: this was hands down my hardest game
Reznik(same player/list),
Turn 1 running and buff juggling
Turn 2:
He puts both heavies into my gladiator again ignoring my Archidon. He brings it down to 6 health.
Gladiator puts a hurt on the Guardian but it survives with 4 boxes, the Archidon moves in order to give Xerxis a safe place to sit for the turn so I can bring him farther up the field.
Turn 3:
He pops feat, kills the gladiator and the Archidon is brought down to 3 health.
I cut for 5, and take 5 damage from Fire. Pop feat and charge the Guardian, I kill it on the charge, overtake barely manage to kill Reznik

Karchev, Destroyer, Juggernaut
I feel kind of bad about this win. The guy was brand new, I warned him that if the Gladiator got the charge off he would kill whatever it hit.

Let's just say that he used Side Arms and kept all three models in base to base contact with each other for most of the game...

Thyra(same player/list)
In this game there was no relavent terrain on the field.
Turn 1 run/buff juggle
Turn 2
I toe into the zone and get ready to take the charge. However I realize to late that with her feat and immunity to free strikes Thyra will have a perfect charge lane to Xerxis.
He starts the turn by setting both the Gladiator and Xerxis on fire, activates Thyra, pops feat and charges. After much rolling of dice Xerxis survives by the skin of his teeth with three health.
Turn 3:
I roll for fire... 6
He Rolls for damage, he needs a 9 to kill me. He rolls an 8.
I surrvive with Thyra sandwiched between Xerxis and the Gladiator with a feat and full fury.
I of course, smash her.

Syntherion(different player) Cipher, Mitigator, Galvanizer

Game with the local PG. Honestly I can't remember much about this game, at that point I'd been playing for about six hours and I didn't take notes, we spent 90% of the time bantering with each other and three other players. We wasted a good 15 minutes arguing about which was more broke, fury or induction nodes. Secret "Press Ganger" only rules, a 10 minute break when he realized he had forgotten to add the PG Gormon to his last order. And a good 5 minutes on how if I ever became a PG i'd make new players use Farrow for all introduction games.

He put all of the jacks debuffs on the Gladiator, couldn't kill it, I killed the Mitigator, it recontructed and the Archidon finished it off. Syntherion charged Xerxis failed and died when I popped my feat.

--------------------------------------------------------

All in all I'm really happy with the way the list played. The Archidon didn't really pull his weight, I think with Xerxis a Rhinodon or another Gladiator would have been a better choice. So for week 2 I'm going to replace the Archidon with a Bronzeback.

Week 1 day 2

Went in Monday to grab a quick game during lunch.

Game 8

Xerxis VS Ossyan, Pheonix, Sphinx

Whilst I did dominate this game, I came fairly close to losing.

Turn 1:
I run and buff juggle

He runs and buff juggles, Quicken on the Pheonix, Chrono Magic on Ossyan. But forgets to move Ossyan. He kind of waffled on where he was moving the Pheonix, did some premeasuring, and took back the move a couple of times, and I'm pretty sure he squeezed in an inch, but since there is a 8 game limit for week one and this game wasn't counting for my win/loss ratio I didn't say anything

Turn 2:
I move Xerxis and the Gladiator up, and repositioned the Archidon to protect Xerxis as I feared Quicken. Oh and I cast Fury on the Gladiator of course.

He charges the Sphinx into the Archidon, I take 3 damage. He moves Ossyan up and shoots the Gladiator and puts the shot debuff on it. The Pheonix charges the Gladiator does a crap tonne of damage but tje Gladiator survives with 9 boxes adn all systems.

Turn 3

Xerxis activates, drops Defenders Ward, pops feat and charges the sphinx. It survives with 7 boxes. The archidon activates and kills the Sphinx spending just one fury to buy a second attack after the first missed. The Gladiator kills the Pheonix pretty easily and has to rile.

Ossyan pops feat takes all of his focus shoots Xerxis and sends a couple of gakky nukes his way. Xerxis survives with just 3 health.

Turn 4

Archidon can't charge Ossyan because of the debuff on Xerxis, but walks and attacks Ossyan puts 12 damage on him.

Since both Xerxis and the Gladiator haven't activated, are withing walking range and the gladiator can charge he scoops.

Huh, good job going 7-1. Xerxis sounds like he knows how to get stuff done.

Kind of disappointed Convergence didn't do much of anything effective. I have a little force built up (very little, just the battle box and the limited edition steelsoul protector model) but haven't had much chance to test it out.

I was talking the the PG who ran CoC, he said the CoC like Menoth and trolls has a tendency to suffer at the battlegroup level.

But honestly my list is pretty powerful at this level, with Fury up my gladiator has two P+S 19 and a P+S 18 Initials, who on feat turn is essentially a weapon master. If I were so inclined to boost damage on the charge that would be P+S 19 on five dice. Xerxis with fury has two P+S 17 initials, and the Archidon with Defenders Ward is 16/19, SPD 7 and Flight so he has a huge threat range.

I doubt I'll be so dominant once we get to the 25/35 point levels.
