I think this maybe a stupid question however I would like to know how to work out the points for the minis I have? I don't play the games so forgive my lack of knowledge.

Purchase or borrow the relevant army book/codex. All your race/faction specific points are in there.

Nope, well offcourse you could probably find the information if you are very resourcefull, but nobody here will be allowed to point you directly towards it as it is copyrighted information not intended for the public domain.

If you know the name of the units you have, you can also use the free army list program "Battlescribe".

It won't give you the fluff, pictures or explain the special rules, but you can see the points, special rules and statlines for each unit.

Just buy a codex in print or digitally from GW.

Whatever you do don't download a PDF illegally on the internet because that's wrong.

Go to http://www.epicroster.com/ it's an online 40k army builder. Not sure about WHFB; you could download a trial of Army Builder but it only allows like a small bit without paying $30 for it.

And of course if you look around there are other ways of doing things that can't be mentioned in a forum like this, but I think you know what I mean.
