Personally, I would nix the tervigon and pay for many 10man terma units + zoeys or larger termablobs. I'm not sold on Tervigons when we have options to gain more wounds and squads for less points. If you're that worried about synapse, take a prime+ AG and stick him in the hormablob. If that gets dwindled, put him with the rest of the terma. Or, if you're not sold on Primes, get a zoey and put him out of LOS. Still ML2 with a 3++, with proper positioning he can be your synapse foreverrrrr. Also, why TS on the hive crone?

I have been considering a lot of what you said already and appreciate the feedback. I'm really liking the idea of a Prime, Biovores and Venomthrope behind an aegis with the prime manning a quad gun.
TS on the Crone is for counter charging the big baddies eg. Wraithknight.

Ah I see. Is that so you wound on a 4+? Because if you Smash! attack, you hit at Str10 therefore wounding on a 2+ at AP2. Unless TS lets you reroll the wounds from Smash!, I think it might be rather redundant. Yes, you do lose 1 attack, but it's almost a surefire way to snag a wound on a WK. Not like a harpy/crone can flat out 1v1 a WK in CC anyway, but at least it's a few wounds.

I'm not a fan of primes over Tervigons. They're 70 points cheaper but a lot more squishy, add no psychic support and can't spawn additional troops.
I wouldn't gear up your Harpies/Crones to take on anything in CC, especially Wraithknights which can instant kill them in CC. Tie up Wraithknights in CC with blobs of disposable bodies that have fearless ie. Gants, Gargoyles.
Last edition Tervigons were near broken in lower point games and although they're a lot worse off now they should still be pretty devastating at 1K points.
HQ:
Flyrant, x2 Devs
Flyrant, x2 Devs
Troops:
Tervigon
Termagants x30
Fast Attack:
Hive Crone
Gargoyles x11
Total: 996.
3 FMCs in 1k point game could be pretty nasty. The Tervigon should be able to hold the backfield while your FMCs and Gargoyle screen zoom around.

I would never expect it to 1v1 any big baddie, it would exclusively be used to counter charge--hopefully finish off--an already tied up WK, GD, etc.

If you put a prime with 2 Carnifex or even 30gants in a blob, they're actually stronger and more survivable than a Tervigon. I mean, with Carni, they're rocking the same stats with more wounds*, plus he can shift from unit to unit if things get hairy. Plus, you have room to buy as many troop squads and models as you would have with the Tervigon (AND an ML2 zoey), and you don't risk the chance of blowing up your termagants if it gets popped. I'm just not sold on a Tervgion's utility considering we can use the points in more effective ways. I can't trust a backfield synapse that can kill my own troops and send them scurrying home when I can solidify synapse from other sources. At least, that's my opinion.
*Wounds in this sense I'm counting as part of the synapse/carni's ablative wound count. You can keep these suckers alive for a while with positioning and LoS rolls. Every game I've played them, the squad has wound up with 1 wound remaining on the carnis and prime, which still gives you synapse and major dakka. It takes a ton of firepower to chew through 11 T6 wounds.
