Tough Tyrant Guard







So im trying out this Bastion + Venomthrope shenanigan. Going for a sneaky list .

I still believe that to be trully competitive we need to over-saturate the FMC so im going with the maximum of 5 all starting on the board.

This is what it looks like:

So the Harpys have Venom cannons since they can pop scary tanks or taxies from afar leaving the juicy troops inside easy prey for the Biovores and other blast template I have ( I think Harpys with H-Venom Cannons are the best option we have to pop strong tanks from afar, they can move 24" towards the side armor and then shoot a nice 36" Str9 TL Blast shot (which doesnt have a -1 to damage chart anymore, thank god), with light luck you can hit 2 tanks per turn . Flyrants can also go for popping taxies or whatever else is worthwhile, they all start on the board behind the Bastion but within 6" of it to get the 2+ cover save.

Warriors are there to babysit everything in the bastion and score and shoot a bit.

I dont think that more than 4 biovores will fit on the top of the bastion so that why I dont have more (I dont own the bastion).

I got a comm relay to help my sneaky Lictors and Genestealers come out or maybe even stay in reserve if the time isnt right. Still wondering if Broodlord are worthwhile since a fair few armies wont care about "The horror" but pinning a Riptide just seems too awesome and Broodlords can make the team last a lot longer I think against bolter fire and the like with his 4+ ArSv, Maybe I should take them out and get a Exocrines to help me soften up MC like Dreadknights, Riptides and Wraithknights before I charge them with multiple FMC.

I feel this idea that if half your army(non-flyer that is) is not on the board is the better idea when using the Bastion since we cant really shoot that well and only so much can fit in the bastion, which cannot move.
If you arent on the board then you can't get shot at, so the opponent can either shoot flyers, or Biovores & Warriors with a 2+ cover save. (Can you shoot things that are IN the Bastion?, I dont think so right? maybe with things that dont need line of sight?) Maybe some Flanking Tervigon and Devilgaunts would work better than the lictors and Genestealers combo, I do like the Genestealers and Lictors though and in this edition they are an even trade toward the Tervigon + Gaunts whereas before it was a no brainer.

Also the Bastion allows you better reserve roll, so the Swarmlord taxe isnt needed, I can go double Flyrant

Actually im not sure of the rules for the Bastion, can you charge the dudes in the Bastion or do you need to blast the wall first or something?
How can someone hurt you if you are in it, aside from taking off hull points from it which shake the building and harms the occupants?
