*Off-topic* I have always felt pity for US Citizens who aren't at the high end of the Pay Spectrum.
Essentially the lack of Social or even affordable healthcare is crazy. Any of us, rich, poor or otherwise can be struckdown with an ailment at any time, it can financially wipe you out.
I remember once me and the wife went on Holiday and she got severe food poisoning, the cost of hospitalization was $15,000 luckily we were fully covered by our holiday Insurance. But what if I had to absorb that at home, I thank god I live in a Civilised Nation that has a National Health Service. I myself have private healthcare through my employer BUPA, but if i ever lost this, I have a good level of service available to me by default.
I admire the US in so many ways, but this one thing even more than the Fire-arms thing really drags it down...How can you be a 1st rate Nation when so many are left by the wayside purely through bad luck at become ill or having health problems?
Europe has it right, on this one single issue...

Italy has the 2nd Best Healthcare system in the World according to the CIA and WHO, and yet is only 57.1% publically funded....This is amazing. Especially as the
UK is like 97% publically funded and only 14th.
