Brawler Bash is a Warhammer Fantasy Battles Grand Tournament held May 31st - June 1st at Atomic Empire in Durham, NC. It's a 3,000 point, no holds barred weekend of fun for $35.00, so don't miss out. Our host, Atomic Empire is currently working on setting up their new payment site and we'll send out another email when that is up and running in the next two weeks. We have room for 100 players this year, and a paid registration will hold your spot. In addition, any door prizes we are able to give out will be given out in order of paid registration.
We are also pleased to hold the Brawler Bash Doubles Tournament this year on Friday, May 30th. You can sign up for the doubles tournament along with your regular Brawler Bash ticket. The doubles tournament costs $10.00 for individuals and $20.00 for a team. You can sign up with a teammate or, if you sign up as an individual, be assigned a teammate at the tournament. The Brawler Bash scenarios will be used.
To get your name on the list for this year's Bash, please email bullcitywargaming@gmail.com or post on the WargamersUSA forum ( wargamersusa.com)
Hurry as spots are filling up fast - we look forward to seeing you there!

I was wondering if you will be running a 40K tournament at the Bash this year?

There will indeed be a 40K tournament this year. We're still finalizing the players pack and tournament details, and I'll post again when these become available.
Thanks!

It's been posted on the hosting store's forum that there will NOT be a 40k event this year: http://z6.invisionfree.com/Scifi_Genre_Forums/index.php?showtopic=10382

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

I can understand the organizers wanting to cater to their primary audience. Brawler Bash was always a Fantasy event first. It was only last year that they first added 40k anyhow. If they really don't have the space for 40k with the fantasy side expanding then I am fine with it being dropped. Better to acknowledge the limitations of the space up front, than to run a cramped 40k event in the corner where nobody has fun.

Unless y'know the venue has another event going on those weekends, which is not out of the realm of possibility for a busy store like Atomic. I'm fairly certain the organizers also have lives outside of running the Brawler Bash, and thus might not be able to take extra weekends off.

Seems like sour grapes to me.
Run your own event if there's so much money to be made.

Is Dale still involved in that area? The reason I ask is because nearly all the terrain from last year's (40K side) Brawler Bash was his and he was instrumental helping to run the event. Without him, who else was there willing to fill the vacancy?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

I've since moved away, but last I heard Dale no longer runs the tournaments at the store, and he's handed the reins back over to Shane and the staff. That could have something to do with it.

It seems Mr. Kirby's prayers have been answered. From the Atomic Empire forums:
After checking the store's availability and the tournament schedule for other 40k events, I'm pleased to announce the next 40k grand tournament. It will be held the weekend of July 26 and 27, 2014 at Atomic Empire. There will be five games, three played on 7/26 and two on 7/27. The point value is 1850 and each game will have a three hour time limit. Hard stops will be enforced because of time restrictions.
Because the 40k playing landscape is changing so rapidly, I'm keeping this tournament simple. To that end I'm using 6th edition rules and FAQs even if Games Workshop releases a new rules set before the tournament date. Furthermore, Escalation, Forge World, Lords of War, and data slates will not be allowed. In a previous post ( http://z6.invisionfree.com/Scifi_Genre_Forums/index.php?showtopic=10292) Shane delineated which rules from Stronghold Assault the store would use and I will abide by his decision. Additionally, the only fortifications allowed are those from the 6th edition general rule book, i.e., Aegis Defense Line, Imperial Bastion, Skyshield Landing Pad, and Fortress of Redemption.
At present the following codices and supplements are permitted:
Adepta Sororitas
Black Legion
Blood Angels
Chaos Daemons
Chaos Space Marines
Clan Raukaan
Dark Angels
Dark Eldar
Eldar
Farsight Enclaves
Grey Knights
Imperial Guard
Inquisition
Iyanden
Necrons
Orks
Sentinels of Terra
Space Marines
Space Wolves
Tau Empire
Tyranids
I acknowledge that these restrictions will not please everyone, but they exist to assist me in my role as tournament organizer. I ask for your understanding and cooperation as I continue to learn the nuances of GTs.
I will post additional information once the specifics have been finalized. Hopefully I am allowing enough time for people to prepare for the event.
Regards,
Dale
