Wondering what I should get for Tau, since I am just starting them for allies for my BA army. Here is what I have for the list.

HQ-Libby-100
Elites-Furioso Dreadnought-170 (Heavy Flamer, Frag Cannon, Pod)
Troops-Assault Squad w/ Melta and Razorback w/ Las/Plas-165
Assault Squad w/ Melta and Razorback w/ Las/Plas-165
Assault Squad w/ Melta and Razorback w/ Las/Plas-165
Fast Attack-Baal Predator w/ Flamestorm & HB-145
Baal Predator w/ Flamestorm & HB-145

HQ-Fireblade-60
Troops- Firewarriors-54
Elites-RIptide-190 (Ion Accelerator, Interceptor)
Fast Attack-Pathfinders-44

That adds up to 1403. Want more for Tau, but if you have advice for BA that works too. Would like to have a 2000 point list. Thanks in advance.

Ethereal is much better than the fireblade, however in such a small squad of 6 FW he'll die quickly. I suggest beefing up the FW squad anmd swapping the Fireblade for an Ethereal.

The thing about the etheral though, is that he only buffs the shots when people are within half range... Why is the etheral better in this case? wouldn't a fireblade do the same thing, only better?

You'd need like 18 FWs for the Ethereal to be useful. Maybe 12.

Alright, so more fire warriors and a ethereal... any other units I should look for?

As cool as the Riptide is, your blood angels side is all meched up. I'd continue the AV-target-saturation game and bring your Tau allies meched up too. One unit of 11 firewarriors with an Ethereal/fireblade in a devilfish and a Skyray plus some more markerlight support. Tetras would be a cool departure from the usual.

Personally I would suggest some Broadsides. Your Blood Angels absolutely love to be in melee, and I personally feel you need a smidge more long range impact. Obviously I'm not a pro here, but that's my $0.02. (:

The general consensus is that the Tau book is filled with great units so really anything you do is right.

Alright, so more meched up crap, like hammerheads and skyrays, to match my army...

I just don't want to do broadsides because they are EXPENSIVE. "sigh"

I asked same question to a friend of mine who play tau
he asked me a question "why whould you will use tau in your army?" and "because are cool looking gundam-like things" was not the right answer u_u

however, the answer i did was "to compensate BA lack of firepower". and then he did me some advices:
- markerlight are pretty useless if you got not a lot of Tau units; 'cause only tau can use it and it's a waste of resources
- firewarrior+ethereal (or fireblade) are cool to throw a lot of pulse fire
- ethereal into a sniper-drone unit. place unit behind an high wall that cover LOS. make the sniper drone jump on the other side of the wall, fire 3 sniper round each one (1 at 48", 3 at 24" as for rapid fire + ethereal power of fire) and then jetpack them behind the wall. Put a couple of guy that give drone BS 5, and buy a couple of tank drone to protect them from side fire...
- crisis full missile unit (each one are 52 points and fire 4x S7 AP4 missiles) or a more expensive broadside unit; put a support commander to give them ignore cover, tank hunter, intercept, etc
- a crisis unit with 2x burst cannon, eventually with drones; they shot at 18" but are 24 shot (S5 AP5) and 12 twin linked for the drones. Also, a support commander can give nice advantage (like ignore cover, tank hunter, etc) to them
- riptide is always cool, however in an allied detachment could be very expensive...

how about 2 12-man squads of firewarriors in transports with ethereal...running up and unloading on their face with 36 strength 5 shots? Then a hammerhead, and skyray. Tank it up?

Your AA looks a little weak, and Sky Rays absolutely destroy Flyers.....and then once the seeker missiles are gone, it still has markerlights..However the hammerhead hits hard also...
