I was hoping to do something completely unqiue, though I am sure it has been done before. But my gaming group is starting up a small tournament and everyone knows I have a soft spot for the sons of corax. I am hoping to get a jump on them all by using the chaos codex rather than the new space marine one (which I sadly do not own yet). Everyone has agreed to use an army they haven't played in awhile, but I know that Tau and Dark Eldar will not be selected. Other than that, its kind of a suprise, but marines will be abundant. Here is the list that I have toyed with thus far.

It is obviously very much geared towards CC, but I am hoping that the predators and 6 meltaguns will provide some anti-tank. I also like that the warp talons can blind enemy units, which could go towards the array of stealth skills that Ravenguard seem to posses. I have never played with Chaos before, though I have toyed with a nurgle themed army in the past. The idea is to run the lord with the raptors, and pray to the emperor (or the god of excess) that being 1 initiative higher will win me combat with the lightning claws). Obviously this is more experimental than anything, but I thought I would gauge you fine gentleman and see if you have any advice (especially from the chaos players).

I6 lord w\ I5 cc marines is alot of fun against meq you should rape face. I would recommend getting the icon of excess for fnp especially on the lords squad

Thank you KU'GATH. Would it be worthwhile to drop the lightning claws on the Raptor Champion to get the icon of excess. I didn't know that anyone but Plague Marines had access to feel no pain. Maybe I should really sit down and look through the entire book before I make the list. I appreciate the heads up for sure though. Anything else you guys notice? I am not aiming to win any grand tournaments, but holding my own for a game would make it much more fun to play.

With I5 and a lightning claw on champs, marines should be a non issue. However, dual claws is overkill. Just give the champs a lightning claw to replace the CCW, and keep your bolt pistol. It is really not worth the extra attack...

On your lord, take a power fist on one hand, lightning claw on the other. This way you can get the extra attack, while having the option for AP2 and S8 if needed.

Since you have the slannesh lord, why not consider noise marines? By the time you mark up your regular marines, you could almost get noise marines. Blastmasters give some more long range AT/anti MEQ, while sonic blasters give more dakka. Still get the I5 fun.

I would also run your predators as autocannon turrets with lascannon sponsons, for more AT punch.

Warp talons...are really garbage. There is no nice way to say it, they just flat out suck. I would go with more raptors, and just take claws on the champ...I4 marines will pass blind more often than not, and without grenades they can't charge into cover without being slaughtered.

I had heard that Warp Talons were not used very often, but I had no idea why. I figured that I5 power weapons would be brutal. Plus, it seemed very Ravenguard like. If I take your advice and try to go that route (meaning more raptors and can the talons) here is the tentative list that I find myself at. Granted it is 3 points since the raptors are an odd point valet, but here is what I am at now. Aagain, I enjoy tinkering with lists, so let me know what you think. Also, this may not be the right place to ask this question, but if I give a champion one lightning claw, is it acceptable to model the champion with two as long as you are open about it. I just like the look of the twin lightning claws (like on the cover of labyrinth of sorrows). I doubt my group would mind, but just posing the question here as well.
