Subject: Dwarf/Squat Army: One army, 4 games

Hello,
I'm currently looking for advice as to how I should approach my next army project. I want to start a dwarf army, however there are few people intrested in Warhammer Fantasy at my FLGS. The majority play 40k. This of course gives me reason to fear buying a dwarf army and never using it. I looked at the Mantics Website and saw there Kings of War dwarfs as well as there Forge Father Models. This gave me the idea to buy these models and make a Dwarf army I can use for Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, and possibly Kings of War and Warpath. This if course presents a few challenges.
1.) Finding a codex to use for 40k that can reflect the upcoming dwarf codex (probably space wolves)
2.) Modeling each model so it doesn't feel out of place in either setting and is as wysiwyg as possible(hard thing to do. May need to steam punk them)
3.) Finding a solution to the bases (which should not be to hard)
I was wondering what others thought of this and if they had any suggestions. Any help is Great! Thank you

This seems like a mighty challenge ahead of you but probably best way to get your moneys worth out of an army. I feel magnets will be your best friend for this project letting you easily swap out weapons and limbs to go back and forth from game to game. I agree space wolves feels it would suit best thematically.

I had a similar thought to this myself (loving the forge father models and some of the new dwarf sculpts).
I was also considering space wolves but also space marines with salamander chapter tactics were an option. Gets across the whole forge aspect as their characters get free master crafted weaponry.

My suggestion would be to buy a bunch of thunderer boxes and check with any number of the after market companies for laser rifles to replace the thunderers rifles and use the guard codex... maybe even base it on a storm trooper heavy army with tons of tanks and arty like dwarves in fantasy tend to have..

Have you tried this? I have a bunch and they are all great sculpts, from the original Squat sculptor. Great customer service too.

you might want to speed it up, the normal Squats are "last chance to buy"

Aw man! I really want those but I don't have my money for this project yet. I'm hope it comes soon! Thanks man Automatically Appended Next Post: Hey a second thought. I'm leaning toward using a space marine dex of some kind and then sculpting drop pods like drills coming up from the ground. I still want to use a space wolf dex, but I have a blood angels codex with me. Any suggestions on how I can make space dwarves with Blood angels and make it as fluffy as possible?
