1750 Ultramarines
Tigurius

9 Sternguard, 4 c-melta, rest base, Drop Pod (Tiggy in DP as well)
10 Tac, c-melta, melta, MM, Drop Pod
10 Tac, base w/Veteran Sgt., Drop Pod

5 TH/SS Termies in a LRC

4 Bikes, c-Grav, 2 grav guns, 1 base, 1 Attack Bike w/ MM

2 Storm Talons w/ skyhammers.

Caveats:
I don't want to go either full bikes or full drop pod. (The latter mostly because I don't want to paint 6 drop pods)
I don't want to go salamanders. Crimson Fists are an option though.

I definitely see room to play around. For example, dropping the MM on the tac squad could instead net me another veteran upgrade for the extra leadership.

If going first, position LRC and bikes aggressively to move forward. If going second, position out of LOS as best as possible to minimize early damage.
Turn 1, drop Sternguard and melta tac squad in a position to blow up as many vehicles as is possible turn 1. LRC and bikes move forward ASAP to either shoot or be in a position to shoot next turn. Ideally, this provides enough target saturation (LRC, bikes, Sternguard, and Scoring Unit) such that they have to pick and choose what to blow up. Termies provide tank killing redundancy, Sternguard provide horde killing redundancy, all are space marines and can ideally tarpit if need be.

Next turn, drop tac squad to position for objective, or try and hold in reserve to keep out of harm's way / determine what opponent is doing.
Same with storm talons, bring in some situations, hold back if possible in others.

Thanks in advance!

You don't really have anything to deal with Monstrous creatures. I don't see anything thats going to stop, wraithlords, wraith knights, Rip-tides, Demon Princes, and anything really belonging to tyranids. Combi-meltas are fun but limited to only killing tanks. Your sternguard, when they drop in, will most likely get counter charge, or shot off the board. It is unfortunate but you have almost 400 points drop podding in, even if they kill and land raider, that's 250 pts, the enemy army is still going to chew them out.

It is unfortunate but the only way to run drop pods is all in, or to run one or two suicide squads, like a twin linked flamer dread, that can blow up some stuff, but you don't mind that it dies next turn.

You can bring a lot of fire power for 400 points with this codex, try considering that. Also for more competitive lists having only 2 scoring units, can put you at risk, since most game modes are objective based, and one of your tac squads is deep striking and will probably die quickly.

Just some food for thought, GL on your list.

Thanks, when you say you can get a lot of firepower for 400 points, what are you referring to? A gun line oriented style like having a couple of TFCs and more troops, or something else?

Assuming I drop the alpha strike /pods and go a different style, what would that entail? I could see upgearing the bikes to a command squad to have more grav for dealing with MCs, but what other units would address MCs effectively?

Centurions with gravs will kill most MS. You can keep the stern in a pod, I would suggest a 5 mand suicide squad with like 3 combi-meltas would be fine. But yeah the grav gun centurians, with tigrus is pretty nasty, and will kill a lot of the big monsters I was mentioning. Just have tigirus give then re-rolls to hit and a 4 up invulnerable save and there a real threat.

I hope that helps!
