Basically, can I dismount these to man packed mortar teams?
One of the guys at my club did this during a big mid war game, and I've been doing the same ever since; mostly down to the fact that I don't have the appropriate half track models to represent them (so I start the game dismounted). If I can't do this then I suppose I'll have to fork out the cash... They're actually more survivable on foot anyway so it would be silly not to dismount!

Just for clarity what system are you talking about?

Is it US WWII - Flames of War or is Vietnam Flames of War.

The key is if Mortar is mounted it's in Hull Mount, and it makes it pretty rapid for redeployment.

If you are on the defensive, I would always dismount and dig in.

They aren't very survivable if in the open, if dug in obviously it's a FP test. At least in a Armoured vehicle you can protect yourself from most small arms, but watch out for the 0.50cals and 20mm etc as despite them having a high FP, the rate of fire means you will get smashed up.

Armoured ones are good for Rapid movement supporting an armoured or mobile assualt. Especially for smoking units as two tubes is as good as 10 when it comes to laying smoke.

Collecting Forge World 30k????? If you prefix any Thread Subject line on 30k or Pre-heresy or Horus Heresy with [30K] we can convince LEGO and the Admin team to create a 30K mini board if we can show there is enough interest!

I probably should have been clearer.. it's the US ww2 armored lists I'm referring to. I always conceal them and dig them in anyhow, I just wanted to check I wasn't breaking any rules by dismounting them

I used them to cover my advance in a game over the weekend (defensive but offensive at the same time) and it effectively kept my opponents artillery out of the game as his spotters couldn't see me! 85 points for 3 mortars.. Most cost effective smoke bombardment in the game!
My opponent did have some nasty weapons hence I kept them as far back as possible!
