(note: look at post 2 as well as the
OP as it has the unit cards)
Apparently somebody looked through the game files quite some time ago and found a lot of unused units, assets and unit cards. Some of these units turned out to be later sold via some of the DLC packs, camel cataphracts were recently sold in the Beasts of War DLC. Celtic Gallic Hunters, Celtic Sword followers and Celtic Veteran Spears all appeared in the Caesar in Gaul DLC. I think this was slightly before that last DLC was released judging by the comments. The cataphract camels being released only recently seems to back that up that these are all in progress units.
Going off that assumption I'd guess we're going to see-
Massalia, Boshporon Kingdom, Numidia and Garmantia will probably released as free
LC as updates. Getting one extra unit each this seems about right. Although maybe they could pick another desert faction like one of the arabic ones to make a round faction DLC pack. Not sure how that would sell. Some of the german and briton factions look to get similar treatment unless new units are brought out closer to the date of release. There are quite a few british units admittedly.
There are multiple new units for the thracians, Iberians and dacians. This suggests this DLC being very close to finished. So I think its a fair guess that these will definelty form two faction packs. One focusing on the Iberian factions and another combining the thracian/dacian factions.
Given the release of the new Beasts of War DLC (no idea why war pigs not in that pack
BTW that it is odd), it looks like they're making unit packs tailored around a theme or gimmick. They also seem to be selling the more fantastical units, theres only really anetdotal instances of armies using snake pot catapults or cataphract camels. So basically
CA seems to be saying "we'll make our game historically accurate. But, we'll sell you the less historical units you remember from Rome 1 as DLC". This is a good strategy as it means they can justify selling this stuff as DLC. You don't want wacky animal artillery in your uber historical game; then don't buy it. But basically I think that sets a good precedent for them releasing a "Warrior Women" unit pack with the screeching women back from Rome 1 along with the "Amazon" units. Given that we got eight units in the Beasts of War pack and it kept true to the theme rather than chucking unrelated items in I would guess they're probably going to make a few more units for this before selling it. Particularly in order to boost availability to other factions, female gladiators or some nomadic horse archers are good example so it gives something for most of the factions.
Also, its completely debatable if any of these could get a campaign pack DLC. Theres easily enough units in the thracian, iberian and dacian packs for a campaign. Given that these seem to come with both new units and new factions to pay in ala caesar in Gaul its entirely possible that either could be done. But I definetly think we've got some proof we'll be seeing big things from these two in the future.
