I was just curious if anyone on dakka had been playing hearthstone. I downloaded it last week and so far it has been a fairly enjoyable experience. My only complain is the insane combos you encounter by players in the higher ranked matches who have many rare cards at their disposal.

I've been playing it on and off (priest ftw), and I do agree how having rare cards (Molten Giant, Ysera, etc..) is a huge advantage; they are a key part of literally every "competitive" deck except the murloc warlock deck (even though that does have murk eye usually), and I think that that is pretty stupid.

playing it since closed beta back in december. loved it! its fast and easy to play, and I like how although rare cards gives you an edge, the basic cards all have easy counters to deal with it. Granted the more cards you have the more themed deck you can make.

I spend $60 on 3x15packs. I would say at this level you will have enough cards to start to make interesting themed decks to really have fun with the game. You don't have to pay to win, unlike 40K, but it will make a more interesting game with the options can choose

Been playing it almost continuously since Open began. I'm doing a little experiment, to see how far I can get without tossing any money at it.

So far I've found it to be fun and have reached Rank 10 with a pretty cool Shamen deck. By tossing in the occasional Arena run you can get some nice cards quite quickly. The Arena is great fun, and everyone is on the same level. We all have a random draft and it is, I'd say, 60% Draft Skill and 40% luck of the draft that gets you far in the Arena. So no Pay To Win. Which is nice…...

I have been playing for a couple weeks. Its a fun game to play while watching TV or listening to music. I am trying to get a ll the characters so I havent built any of their decks up very high. Consequently I get my a$$ handed to me most of the time.

This is a awesome sig

I tried it, but stopped playing. I went a period of four days or so without winning a single PVP game. Which meant I got no gold. Which meant I got no cards. Which meant I couldn't win any PVP games.

And the forums are crap. For some reason, they won't let me post there. I can't ask why they won't let me post there - according to their own rules, I should be able to.

I tried it but didn't care for it.

The amount of time I would have to invest to be able to play and win frequently enough to have fun isn't worth it to me.

Been playing it for about 3 days, I'm simply atrocious but I feel that as I start to plan my decks more and with more intricate and special cards I can be more competitive. I unlocked all the heroes by using the shaman who I think I'm best with, but I love the warlock and I seen what he can do and I like it.

I've been playing for a while in closed beta. At the higher rankings, their are definite cards that aren't necessarily game-breaking, but if you don't have answers for them then the game is gonna be a loss. You can still do well without spending a dime though. Their are daily quest that offer up gold, and it allows you to either buy a pack or you can spend it on the arena, where you can earn gold and a pack. You can also disenchant extra cards and use the dust to make ones that you need, including legendaries.....granted I know you do not get much dust, but it can be done. All-in-All I would say its pretty fun, and for the most part it seems pretty balanced. I feel like I usually see a lot of variety in the decks and its never the same one over and over.
