So I am back again after expert advice as I continue to build up my Chaos Space Marine army. I just finished the Blood Angels Omnibus and like the Black Library will do, it is changing the theme of my army, yet again. I am looking for a very fluff based army centered around Fabius Bile and two hordes of Chaos Marines (as that is what I currently have painted). The back story would be that another warlord has enlisted the services of Bile in his new campaign against the Ultramarines (my best friend's army) but has sighted the enemy before the experiments have been completed. He tends to run quite a few Terminators with thunder hammer and storm shield, and those have been given me some trouble lately. Here is the list I am thinking about running.

Fabius Bile

Kharn the Betrayer

20 Chaos space marines with Bolt Pistols and CCWs, Mark of Khorne, Icon of Wrath, and Melta bombs on the aspiring champion.

20 Chaos space marines with Bolt Pistols and CCWs, Mark of Khorne, Icon of Wrath, and Melta bombs on the aspiring champion.

30 Chaos Cultists, no upgrades at all here.

3 Maulerfiends.

The idea would be to enhance Kharn's unit, and create a brutal hand to hand combat unit. The second unit would be follow behind with Bile, or perhaps run in front to either mop up or provide cover. The 30 cultists would sit on a backfield objective and look pretty. The three mauler fiends are there because I love the model, its fits with the over the top aggressive approach, and I like the speed that they bring to the army. I know this will not win any tournaments, but I thought it could be fun, if not short lived, to see it on the table top.

I really like the "Cheap Khorne Berzerkers".

Mmm... Maulerfiends? I bet SS/TH terminators do trouble you, they'll save your attacks on a 3+, no matter what, while they'll easily answer with some penetrating hits.. enough to eventually roll a 5+ and make you explode.
I understand you like them, but I believe that after Possessed and the Helbrute they are the worst choice in the codex. AV 12 is way too easy to penetrate, you have only 4 attacks on the charge (plus one with the magma cutter, because it's unlikely that with WS 3 you'll hit with all 4 of them). Yes, they are 4 powerfists, so they hurt a lot. But half of them are bound to miss, and 1s to hit are more common than you think. On the other hand, you just need a well placed hit to blow up

Terminators do succumb to anything that will make them throw lots of dice.
Do you want a good, cheap example of a unit that is the doom of all kind of terminators? 20 Daemonettes with an Herald of Slaanesh and the Exalted Locus of Beguilement. Trust me, if at least 10 of them and the herald reach close combat, there is no way for a terminator squad to surive that, too many rending attacks. Those 21 models just cost 255 points, a steal if you pose enough immediate threat to allow them to reach CC relatively unharmed.

If i were you I would drop the cultists and the Maulerfiends, take some Havocs/Obliterators, one Heldrake and ally with Daemons to take an Herald of Slaanesh, 20 Daemonettes and 10 Plaguebearers to camp the objective (they cost the same, but are more reliable than cultists).

But if you say that you absolutely want to have Bile, an horde of marines and 3 Maulerfiends... you already have your list, no much room for change, so I wonder why you posted here

I think having Kharn foot-speed across the table means he'll never make it, even with 20 meatshields with him. Kharn with 9 other "fauxzerkers" in a Land Raider will make a bigger difference.

A Baledrake is always solid points spent. They always make a difference.

Just my 2c
