This a 600 point Eldar army for small competitive play. With the new codex out (relatively new) I am getting back with the Eldar forces. I am well aware that the fire dragons in this list don't have any transport however I believe that a wave serpent is not worth it's points when I can have a fire prism instead which can deal with both heavy units and swarm units (large blast and the focus shot).

-Farseer (Singing spear and Runes of Witnessing)
120 points

- 10 Guardian defenders (with a shuriken cannon Platform)
105 points

- 10 Dire Avengers
130 points

- 5 Fire Dragons
110 points

- Fire Prism (twin-linked shuriken catapults and spirit stones)
135 points

600 points total

thanks for taking the time to leave advice

Wave Serpent isn't worth it? Heads down lads, the flame storm is comin'! In the new codex the Wave Serpent is the new cheese with it's serpent shield being amazingly OP. The standard build is Wave Serpent with TL scatter laser and holofields, 4+ jink while putting out on average 4 tl strength 6 shots and 4/5 tl strength 7 shots. Unless you are fighting a Land Raider (Which is what the fire dragons are for!) then the Wave Serpent is always worth it. I would also advise you drop the Guardian unit to a Ranger unit so you can get the DA an Exarch with Shimmershield. This is a really capable unit in low point levels, with swathes of anti infantry and MC fire power with adequate assault potential and a great overwatch with guide or preferably prescience.

As Alex said, the Wave Serpent is good, and the Internet will not relent on that point.

If you'd rather break the mold, stick with the Fire Prism. But in that case the Fire Dragons (even with Battle Focus) are unlikely to be able to hunt down a target unless it's charging at them - perhaps try 3 Dark Reapers with Starshot instead? Quadruple the range instead of Melta, but IMHO a better chance at <=AV13, hope on the Prism to deal with LR's.

If you insist on taking Fire Dragons, they are going to need a Wave Serpent. As mentioned above, Serpents are probably the best unit in the codex, if not the best transport in the entire game. I give mine TL Scatterlasers, a Shurican Cannon, and Holofields. If you score a hit with any of the scatter laser shots, (you will) all of the other weapons become twinlinked. Never take any of the other main turret weapons, always scatter lasers. Holofields are there to give you a 4+ cover save as long as move. (3+ if you move flat out) Because of this, you should almost always be firing the shield weapon. (unless you have incoming deepstriking melta or the like.)

Fire prisims are not bad, but drop the spirit stones and take holfields.

Thanks for all the feedback! I've decided to swap out the fire dragons for something else, possibly dark reapers. Also the guardians may be taken out for a squad of rangers.

I've just had a small 600-point tournament. Finished 1-point short of 1st place. Used this list:

Farseer: Eldar Jetbike, Singing Spear, Spirit Stone

6 Rangers

9 WRJ with 3 Cannons

3 Warwalkers with 2 Scatterlasers

600 points

Warwalkers are one of the best units at this point level in the entire game. There's no beating around the bush with these guys, you point them at a target and watch it disappear.

That said, we weren't allowed to take any AV12+, so S6 was enough to handle anything. And I had 34 TL S6 shots in my army.

Now, if Land Raiders were allowed, I'd have taken a squad of Swooping Hawks. 6 Haywire attacks kill even a LR, especially if Prescienced.

A Farseer at this point level is flatout broken. It can literally buff your whole army in so many ways. And it's game over if he gets Puppet Master or Hallucination. It basically means your opponent is going to be fighting with half of his army doing nothing at best and assaulting his own models at worst.

@araenion, Congrats!

For 600ptsif you want to try something different go with massed guardians with BLs, that way you can handle anything, also take warlocks if possible for some nice 3+ cover in area and 2+ in ruins.
