So after the announcement of the Imperial Knight Titans I have started to work on the lore for a Knight titan house to use in my Dark Heresy campaign. Still a work in progress and any tips or advice is appreciated:

Knight House Venator:

Knight House Venator is a minor Knight house order that has a relatively strong presence in the Calixis sector. They numbered originally at roughly 30 operational Knight titans and were charged with defending the newly found minor Forge Worlds during the Avgevin crusade. They were founded on a planet near the border of the Calixis sector and when they were discovered by the Great Crusade they integrated Mechanicum aspects into themselves. The Knight house has a bizarre code of conduct centering around the Machine God but also the myriad specific details and redundant minor points that make up their chilvaric code. The house suffered heavy casualties during the assault on the Forge World of Gloriam leaving them at a mere 7 Knight titans, the rest being destroyed by the unidentified xenos that threatened to overwhelm the planet. The house was furious at the loss of their prized Knights and quickly resorted to using biological weaponry to destroy the xenos. This became a point of shame for the Knight house, as the chemical shells were forbidden to be used by the Mechanicum, as these were horrors that were quickly outlawed after the nightmares of the Horus Heresy. What followed the destruction of the Xenos threat was a full cover up and the surviving workforce was abducted by the Knight house as “payment” for the salvation of the Forge World. The ruling class of nobles supported this action, on the condition that they are declared members of the Knight house. The leader of house Venator begrudgingly accepted but saw opportunity with the abducted legion of menials. The older menials were quickly processed into combat servitors and the younger menials began training as House Venator’s “royal guard” The Knight House and planetary nobles claimed that the workforce perished in battle with the fell Xenos menace and that only the main capital survived.

House Venator had now supplemented their lost war machines with hordes of psycho conditioned foot soldiers. This was a breach of the terms of the agreement made with the Sector’s Mechanicum faction and it’s discovery led to bribes or extortion in order to maintain the supposed honor and nobility of the house. Planets were brought to bear as Knight Titans destroyed major threats, allowing the menial warriors to overwhelm the foe. The Inqusition quickly saw through the veil of House Venator and saw the full weight of what it had done. They had created a war force that could successfully parallel most standard Imperial counterparts. The Inquisition soon dropped the investigation as the House was important to the war effort and the conquering of the sector. After the conclusion of the Calix crusade the House quickly found itself in a state of reduced importance. In the wake of their crime they avoided major conflicts lest they be discovered, allowing more prominent and pure Knight Houses to gain importance in the Crusade and claim more territory for themselves. The crestfallen House Venator returned to their home world only to find it had been destroyed under mysterious circumstances. The planet was cleansed of all life in a single day, with no clues pointing in any definite direction as to the perpetrator of the act. The paranoid nobles of the House damned the xenos that had crippled their House once and as they believed now, had destroyed their home world. However on a spaceship not so far away a radical inquisitor congratulated his loyal acolytes on a job well done.

The 2000 years since then have not seen an expansion in the number of Knights fielded by the house but the original menial warriors have expanded to disturbing levels over the years. The deranged nobles of House Venator now see themselves as the sword of the Machine God, a proud and revered institution of war. This misguided belief is merely an excuse for the lust for power and glory that now drives the House forward. However the nobles of House Venator have bought fully into this lie and they cannot bring themselves to face the hideous thing their house has become...

I'm still working on this.
