Ok so I am trying to build up a nice, competitive 1,750 point Space Wolves list. I've been putting off working on my SW for too long now and I would like to get them table ready finally. But first I need to get a decent idea of what list I want to play in order to buy the models for it. Here is my current list. Thoughts? Suggestions? Local-meta aside do you think this list could compete in tournaments? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Updated list using a lot of the info gatthered in this thread. I plan on putting the Rune Priest with one of the LF groups and then obviously the Wolf Guard Battle Leader will be with the Thunderwolf Cavalry.

Thoughts on my current list? I want to use this in tournaments and hope to perform well. Is this list built to compete on a tournament level? Thanks for all the input!

A quick switch would be to make the master of runes priest go divination and the other priest use jaws/ll. Even at level 2, you can only use one psychic shooting attack a turn, wasting master of runes on the priest with 2 shooting powers.

You probably don't need 4 storm shields on the cav either, 2-3 should do it allowing you to put your warlord rune priest in terminator armor. The thunder hammer is OK, but with S5 and rending probably better to use a bunch of attacks at I4 than I1.

Very good tips! Thank you. I didn't realize that I could still only use one of the shooting attacks. I'm still relatively new to the game and this is my first time attempting a SW list above 1000 points.

So which would you suggest to put in Terminator armor? The one with Divination?

and may I ask why only 2 or 3 Storm Shields? Just keep the guys without the shields in the rear of the unit?

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

he's suggesting putting your warlord in termi armor in order to insure against Slay the Warlord.

One suggestion. You could mix your MLs and Lascannons between the Long fangs units and take advantage of split fire. This way if your opponent is running AV13 spam they cannot just focus fire you laser fangs and sit pretty the rest of the time.

So you would suggest splitting up the weapon choices of the LFs? So two units with 3 ML and 2 LC and one unit with 3 LC and 2 ML?

What are people's thoughts on the best builds of LFs?

Also is the unit of 4 TWC good? Is 4 a good number? Should I go 5? Or I can go two units of 3 TWC? I would probably have to drop a LF though to get the two extra TWC.

I keep getting mixed input on if having 10 GH with 2 meltas is better or worse than having 8 or 9 GH with 1 melta and a wolf guard with a combi-melta. It's only one shot. So it's risky.

Thoughts?

Re. LF builds... yes that is my suggestion. Lascannons and MLs all day. If you run them with Logan then MMs are juicy.

Re. TWC... 4 is a good number. Keep that lascannon.

Re. GH builds... WG with a combi weapon instead of the extra special is a personal preference. Higher leadership is very helpful. Play around with it and your wargear options and see what you like best. I really believe it can go either way. My own rule of thumb was if I am running less than ten, take the WGPL. Otherwise follow the boys before toys mantra and take the free special weapon. That of course was in the days where everything needed a transpot. Not necessarily canon anymore.

I have updated the original post with my current list. I am hoping to use this list on a competitive level in tournaments. Do you think it will compete?

I like the idea of the Wolf Guard Battle Leader with the Thunderwolf Cavalry. But I've never used the Battle Leader before. Is it a good HQ choice in this set up?

And also, since I dropped to one Rune Priest I was not sure if I should keep the 2xDivination build or if I should go with LL and JotWW? Thoughts? If I go LL and JotWW I can drop the Master of Runes and I would have 50 more points to play with.
