DARK AGE PLAYERS! I am happy to announce our next scheduled Tournament!
WHERE? Giga Bites Cafe, of course!
WHEN? Sunday, March 2nd. Registration starts at 11am. The tournament will begin at 12pm sharp. Please make sure to be there by 11:40 at the very latest, so that I can get you registered and paired. If you come late you will lose time, and only have an opponent in Round 1 if another comes late as well.
HOW MANY POINTS? 500.
HOW MUCH? The tournament will be absolutely free! You will be playing for bragging rights, and any cool swag I can get my hands on for you guys! You won't know what's there until you come out and see, though.We had an amazing turnout last time, with 20 people showing up, and I know we can do better this time! Once we get to 24 people in attendance at a tournament, we will be able to declare it a full on March to Immortality, with a plane ticket to Gen Con for the winner, and a chance at even more awesome prizes, like getting to design YOUR OWN MODEL.
WHAT DO I NEED? Aside from the models in your army, you will need to have a copy of the 2013 Core rules, Secondary Objective Cards and the Stat Cards for the models in your army. While the rules and stat cards can be printed out or on a tablet, but please don't have them just on your phones - they need to be big enough and available for your opponent to read whenever they need to. You will need to have a PHYSICAL copy of the secondary objective cards. You will also need several d20's (3 should be plenty), a tape measure, and templates for Blasts, Sprays and Streams. You should also have three (3) Objective Markers. Remember that these are 50mm bases. I might have some extras for the tournament, but you will need them for games in the future anyway, so I highly recommend picking some up. It would also be a good idea to have some scratch paper handy if you would like to take notes, or to write down secondary objective info you pick at deployment. Also, make sure you bring all the tokens you need for your army. It is your responsibility to be prepared, and not your opponents' to have the things you forgot.
WHAT'S THE FORMAT? We will be playing according to the Extreme Tournament Rules in the back of the Core Rules. The number of rounds will be based on players, as indicated in the Extreme Rules, and the scenarios will be determined at random by me each round. Points will be totaled up from each round to determine a winner at the end of the day. In the unlikely event of a tie, a winner will be determined through strength of schedule.
HOW LONG WILL THE EVENT RUN? Each round will be 60 minutes, with an allowance of around 15-20min between rounds at most. My estimate would be that by starting at 12pm, if we have three rounds we should be able to be finished around 4pm. If we have enough to run four rounds, then 5:30pm sounds reasonable. In my experience games most often go to time when players play slowly due to unfamiliarity with either their own rules or their enemies. I highly recommend reading up on stats and rules, as they are all available online.
