I'm a pretty dedicated Iron Hands player (most stuff is modeled that way), so that's why I'm using those Chapter Tactics primarily. Anyone have feedback for me on this list? The local meta near me is primarily Guard, Nids, Tau and Marines.

Clan Raukaan (primary)

hq
Captain - warlord, bike, art. armomr, gorgon's chain, axe of medusa, digital weaps.
Chapter Master - bike, art. armor, storm shield, p. fist, combi-grav
Command Squad - bikes, 4x grav, apoth.

troops
Tactical Squad - rhino, 8x bolter, plas, combi-plas
Scout Squad - 10x bolter
Scout Squad - 7x rifle & cloak

fast
Stormtalon - skyhammers

heavy
TFC
TFC
Hunter

Iron Hands (allied)

hq
Chapter Master - bike, art. armor, shield eternal, p. fist, digital weaps,

troops
Bike Squad - 2x bolter, 2x grav, combi-grav, melta bomb

The plan is to have all ICs join the command squad and get into grav range/close combat when appropriate; captain tanks first wound (hopefully on warlord table, can roll a 3+ FnP), look-outs the rest, all with IWND and 5+ FnP so pretty survivable.

The rest of the army is pretty self explanatory. The only thing I'm still torn on is the sniper scouts... it's nice to have another unit start on the board, and just hunker down on an objective in cover, but are the points well-spent?... probably not... but I'm not sure what else to do with the points (100 points)... I could take a scout squad in land speeder I guess...

Thoughts?

Didn't know the Iron Hands had 2 Chapter Masters, and a Captain that would take command over them (making him your warlord).

As far as the list goes in game terms, its pretty solid, seems a bit light on troops though. Not sure if your local meta leans more competitive or friendly, but it doesn't look like a list that would be enjoyable to play against, and lends itself to others building a hard counter list against it.

List looks pretty well, but why you give gorgon's chain to captain instead of chaptermaster?
What would I DO is give captain gravpistol and axe of medusa, chaptermaster with TH and LC and gorgon chain. Or if you really want to ruin someone's day drop chaptermaster in one drop pod, FW apothecary harath shen nearby, and join shen with chaptermaster's squad for 3+ fnp(2+ if you roll 3 on WL trait) and laugh as your enemy tries to kill him( i killed abaddon in 2 rounds of combat, and a daemon prince of tzeentch with staff of change in next 2 rounds...) however, if shen gets sniped you are in deep so watch out for vindicares...

You can take as many chapter masters in a SM list as you can fit HQ units if you want. And why would the Captain be the warlord? Does he have the highest LD (as that is what determines which HQ your warlord is)? Fluff =/= rules.

My concern with the list is you don't really seem to be taking advantage of Iron Hands CT's much and you seem to be pretty top heavy with the HQ's .. I don't have the Clan Raukaan supplement so I could be wrong.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone!

@ Ztryder
The local meta is clearly divided, so I have a friendly list I play most often, but some times the competitive players are all that's there and most are running Tau and/or Eldar in some flavor :/ That'd be when I play this list.

Totally slipped my mind on the chapter master not being the one with the chain - I'll switch that; I'm used to running a 1000 point Clan Raukaan list that has a Captain on bike as my Warlord so I just carried that over without thinking lol

@ThatSwellFella
I'll definitely look into this FW Apothecary character, he sounds nasty! I've never seen him before so now you've got me thinking...

@Rorschach9
As far as the IH Chapter Tactics goes, it's mainly for IWND on all the characters (who I'll bouncing wounds between and hopefully if they all take 1 a turn, regain to full quite often) and Clan Raukaan for the relics and possible 3+ FNP warlord trait.

Since I'm a bit light on troops, I may swap the tac squad out for more bolter scouts (20 bodies for the same price almost) to reserve, outflank, infiltrate, stop scout movements, etc.

I would ruin this as it is similiar and I think a little more competitive...

HQ
Warlord - CM w/Bike, AA, SS/TH, & Gorgon's Chain
Captain - Bike, AA, SS/Axe of Medusa, Combi-Grav, & Digitial Weapons

Troops
4x Scout Squad w/10 Strong & Bolters

Fast
Stormtaon

Heavy
TFC
TFC
Hunter

Allies
HQ
CM - w/Bike, AA, Shield Eternal, TH, & Digitial Weapons

Troops
Bike Squad - 3 Gravgun

Sure i am also starting an iron hands list, just can't find an effective way with my BT so i guess i am gonna repaint them into iron hands... :( back to topic you can footslog shen with gorgon's chain chaptermaster with some hammernators2+/3++ then 4+fnp and as i said you can get a 2+fnp EW character who refuses to get laid low to silly things like lascannon gunline and demolisher cannons xD

I actually think you'd have trouble with this list. Your characters would survive, but what keeps the scouts alive in objective missions?

I don't play a lot of SM but do you really need two HQs in the main detachment? I might just be over looking it (happens often) But I just feel like you might want to get some more durable troops? Like Buckero said, scouts are not the most durable of troops.

"The path of the righteous is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyrannical. Blessed are those, in the name of The Emperor and Holy Tera, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly Man's keeper and the finder of lost souls. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Emperor's Hand when I lay His vengeance upon you."

Give the scouts cloaks and rifles so they can go into reinforced terrain with the TFCs for the 2+ if it is a ruin. Then they can only be shifted by CC or flyers

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.

Looks good. However, I didn't think you could ally Iron Hands with Raukaan.
IIRC Raukaan is still Iron Hands CT with a bit extra and you can't have a primary and allied detachment with the same CT.
I'll have another flick through my supplement though.

EDIT: Found it;
A Clan Raukaan detachment is chosen using the army list presented in Codex: Space Marines. It also has a series of supplemental rules (presented below) that must be used in addition to the material found in Codex: Space Marines. When choosing a Clan Raukaan detachment, you may only use the Iron Hands Chapter Tactics

Your primary detachment is/are Iron Hands.
Your allies cannot also be Iron Hands.

That just gave me an idea... You can take sevrin loth from FW as allied detachment, PICK AN iron arm and enjoy having 2+3++ 3+/4+ fnp 4 wound eternal warrior with toughness up to 8(!!)

Like I mentioned in the PM, Sevrin Loth or any other psyker can only Iron Arm themselves, not anyone else.
