Walked into my local GW the other day and was persuaded into getting a knight... now I want more.
Here's the WIP shots

First up is a full shot

Here's a close up of the carapace

Close up of the leg

Close up of the melta

I've since added more details and am trying to figure out what to do for the base

Interesting, you swapped the arms around?

Normally the right arm is the ranged weapon and the left is the chainsword. It looks pretty decent with an arm swap the way you've done it though. Nice painting also so far. I'm digging the battle damage.

Keep us apprized on the progress! Looking forward to seeing it based and finished.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

Yeah, figured since they're will be several of these, I'd do an arm swap... I also think it kinda looks cool since the 'shield' on the ranged weapon has the cut out to look through on that side

the arms are interchangeable for left and right. and since these are not piloted by ambidextrous space marine, i honestly think the sword on the right hand side should be the way to go for most of them anyway! Looking really good there. , thoug you might want to make the knee pads white to to tie the carapace and the rest of the knight together. it looks a little funky beeing half white half red.

Very nice, and the weathering on the carapace is excellent - how did you achieve the mottled, oxidised white/aluminium effect, is it sponged on?

Painted sections with bolt gun metal, p3 battlefield brown. I then sponged on some liquid mask. Once that dried I primed it white. Before it was fully cured, primer was still a bit tacky I took a stippling brush and brushed the masking off, which smeared some of the primer around it. Then I took some nuln oil and watered it down. I brushed it on sections and then used a piece of paper towel and dabbed it. Then would move on to the next section until it was all done. I then took some P3 bootstrap leather and sponged that on around the weathered areas.

Nick, as to the red knees, the paint job is based on the Retribution Incarnate from WD 5... I kinda see your point, once I'm done designing my decals and print them out, it should help.

The arm swap worked out pretty well and the shield symmetry doesn't look too bad being on the opposite side.

Nice work.

They stand 8" high - shorter than a Wraithknight, taller than a Riptide. Not exactly Titan sized, but taller than a Lord of Skulls...

Made that based on comparisons here, so don't take it as gospel but I think it's pretty accurate.

Here's a pic with some more details done... I've also taken the advice of breaking up all the red with a checker patterned kneecap.

The base isn't done, I'm thinking of adding some sort of road block, and maybe a poor Ork Mek on his knees

Couldn't resist an action shot

I really feel the checker knee cap helps tie your colourscheme together on the two halves of the miniature, so I'm glad you took my advice. This is turning out to be a stunning (but wel used and worn!) paintjob.

Go for the ork mech on the feet. Will you add some kind of symbol on the front shoulder heraldry shield thing. It looks really nice so far.

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

PM me if you are interested in Commission work.

It's a base of P3 Bloodstone, then painted P3 Solid Gold.
Once dry I add a heavy coat of GW's Agrax Earthshade and finish it up with a dry brush of black

Capamaru wrote:Will you add some kind of symbol on the front shoulder heraldry shield thing

I was thinking of just adding some script or text of some sort. Since this is supposed to be a Freeblade and they cast aside the heraldry of their former houses.

Retribution Incarnate has the text Death or Glory on his... but since I've changed some stuff I might just put an other saying.

Still debating wether or not to but the banner between it's legs... and still have some decals I want to add to him.

Hopefully more pics tonight.

Thanks for that - more things to buy...

Great effect though and the Knight is really looking quite good indeed.
