Hi,

So I just finished putting together my first batch of 20 aleph (went a bit trigger happy on first purchase) and picked up secret weapon bases for them all. I haven't actually played a game of infinity yet but I do understand the measurement from base center and how cover / passing works with base size.

I wanted to know if me not putting the secret weapon bases ontop of the regular bases is an issue? I have just drilled and magnetised (with no hope of getting them back out) and pinned all of them without placing them on the supplied bases.

The issue is the size of my base bottom is the size of the supplied base top. Does this automatically cause a big rules headache if I wanted to eventually take them into tournament play?

The main reason I did this was I really hate the look of bases on bases, I hate the height the base has so never even bothered to check sizing since I figured "oh 25mm I can just use this will be fine"

Their bases are complete bases. No need to put them on top of regular bases, as it would just look silly. With the recommendation to base them on the bases they're packaged with, when looking at resin bases, simply go with the same size. If a model came packed with 25mm round bases, put them on some sort of 25mm round resin base. 40mm round bases, 40mm round resin base, and so on.

Yeah nice. I keep seeing people on the infinity aus fb page and infinity forums stacking them one ontop of the other. Looks terrible but thought it might be a rules issue.

Thanks.

Who on the IA fb page stacks their bases?

I've not seen any of them do it, but noobs will be noobs sometime (I'm one of the original group members).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

Can't remember and not trolling through the archives but saw enough to second guess myself.

the so-called 40mm SW bases are more like 35 in my experience but actually, the measuring from base centre makes it matter a bit less than it otherwise would (which wasn't much of a problem to start with).

Yeah I was wondering about the base touch rules and distance with it being like a fraction smaller for cover and the like. Its pretty minute though so wasn't sure how strict rules were about it.

...meh. Theoretical theorycraft advantage; practically, not an issue on an actual tabletop.
