Hey everyone, my name is Corey.

I just started playing Warhammer 40k last month. I've been browsing the forums for a while now, and figured I would finally join the fray and learn this awesome game. I haven't played any other Table Tops, but I am already addicted to this one.

Me and a friend ended up splitting a DV set, which seems pretty common, so I am currently working on a Dark Angels list. Luckily I found a local ork player and have been able to play several games (and losing all of them haha). Im going to rematch him again tonight (750pt with minor proxy on my end) in hopes of finally defeating his horde!

I have yet to expand on my army, but I was thinking of moving towards something like this for 1000 Pts?

First of all, welcome to Dakka, and good to see another Dark Angels player.

List-wise: move the Fast-attack Black Knights to a non-slot HQ Ravenwing Command Squad. It saves you 6 points, which you can then spend on other fun stuff, Vet sarge upgrade is IMO generally not worth it, I would take the points from there, the 6 from above, and your 2 reminaing points (18) and spend them on maybe making one bike squad 2x plasma instead of melt, so you've got both, and then give one more terminator a CC setup. OR give the ravening command squad the ravening banner for reroll morale and pinning within 12"

I am happy to say that I was able to beat my Ork friend last night in a game of Crusade (3 OP). We added a rule to award 1 VP if you held an objective at the end of a round to make things interesting.

With a bit of carefully tracked proxy I used that 1000pt list. I held the lead for most of the game (First blood, and had 2 objectives for 3 rounds) but it got down to the wire at the end.

At round 5 he charged my RW BK squad + Sammael with a 3 man squad of Killcans and a squad of one ork with a Warboss wielding a Powerclaw.

With some good rolls on my end (and some poor rolls on his) I was able to place 2 wounds on the Boss, take no wounds to my unit that round, hit and run out, and finish the boss off during my next turn to receive Slay the Warlord VPs.

Thanks for the tips Nwabudikemorgan, I did not realize I could make the RW BK squad into a command squad for cheaper. Also, with only three ranged weapons remaining on the terminators, should I just get chainfists or another TH/SS?
