1.) If overlords have vast legions of warriors and multiple phalanxes of immortals, deathmarks and lychguard under their command, as well as mere lords running entire worlds for them, how come we practically HAVE to take one in a 500pt battle?

2.) If the Triarch Pretorians and Destroyers are not aligned to any particular dynasty or planet, where did they sleep for 60million years?

3.) If they have no method of warp travel and the dolmen gates only grant access to a small proportion of the old ones webway how can they possibly ever be a threat to any world which is neither near a dolmen gate or has a sleeping tomb complex upon it?

1) Any Lord who has command over a section is an Overlord. Overlord isn't an actual rank within the Necron heirarchy - Imotekh the Stormlord's title isn't Overlord, for example, it's Phaeron.

Overlord models represent everything from Phaerons, to Nemesors, to Arch-Crypteks and Regents. If your Overlord is the sort to have "vast legions of [etc]", they should take the Phaeron upgrade to represent their extremely high rank.

2) Triarch Praetorians didn't sleep at all, they patrolled the galaxy and remained active for sixty million years, founding civilisations and preparing the galaxy for the time when the Necrons awoke. Destroyers are the result of a virus slash malfunction that transformed Necrons during the Long Sleep - they were part of a Dynasty when they entered stasis, and have only become Destroyers since reawakening.

3) Necrons have inherent faster than light travel without using the Warp through their 'Inertialess Engines', which allow them to make playthings of the laws of physics. There's some argument over whether or not the Ward Codex retconned them away, but every other source either directly states or implies that Inertialess Engines are still a thing. They also have mastery of 'Subspace' (also sometimes called 'Hyperspace'), which is a folded dimension that exists alongside reality but isn't quite in the warp either. This is how they have mastered teleportation.

Also, Pariahs are still alive!!! Theres a pic of them in the new codex. They haven't been retconned, they just haven't been updated.

Destroy to create. Wreak havoc upon the infrastructure and bring life anew. Break through all barriers to realize there were no barriers. Realize there were only treacherous games. Learn the entirety of the game. Find the game makers; find the dick traitors/dictators.
Explode unto thy betrayers - ruin all their materials, dethrone and desecrate their persona, crush and manipulate their force, squeeze and torture their ideals to redirect their goals so as to dominate their souls, extract and perfect their fear so as to mitigate their strength and amplify their weakness.
Cut out the sickness, then imprison the wardens. Sing the song blood red and true. Create their destruction.
All for the hunt to dominate.

GW turned them into Lychguard. Same concept at least.

There is in fact picture of a pariah in the codex. Whether it means they are in the fluff, or if it's just GW being lazy is another matter.

#3. Basically the name was changed on the 'Inertia-less Engines' to the 'dimensional repulsion engines.' They're on the Tomb Blades, the Scythes and to a lesser extent the Destroyers. It probably is used on everything that needs to hover for the Necrons, so why not ships?

Well, the ships in Fall of Orpheus were describing as "arresting their Interia" and these are the same ships in BFG and in the fluff before that had interia-less drives, so it stands to reason that they are still called that, and still exist.

The Night Scythe has a very specific engine that is designed to cause a horrendous shrieking noise - it's not the same thing as is mounted on their starships, lol.

In regards to your first point, I used to have trouble dealing with the epic scale of 40k and the relatively small size of the battles you can reasonably expect to play-- what, there are literally trillions of Orks in the galaxy and I'm supposed to feel good about defeating 120 of them (and losing a quarter of a company of space marines to do it)? Why is a Chapter Master running around with a 1500 pt army?

But I just try to think of every game as extremely critical engagements. Maybe a Necron Overlord has deployed his vast legions of warriors against half a world's worth of Imperial Guard, but only to buy time for the Overlord himself (and a picked selection of troops) to personally seize a relic of great value, or secure a certain objective that he needs to awaken more of his forces, etc.

Gonna have to ask for a page number on that one.

Ah right, the art from the first codex. Thought it was something new i'd missed.

Still leaves hope for their return. I really liked the concept of Pariahs, Necrons harvesting human blanks and turning them into mechanical abominations.

Yeah, I should have specified that it's recycled art. Which lessens the possibility of there still being pariahs.

Who knows though? Maybe they will release a supplement.
