Should I get a daemon prince or a sorceror? Why should I get a sorcerer if I should get daemon prince and use its psychic attacks and also be good at close combat. While the sorceror can do the same amount of psychic powers and is useless in close combat.

Please Help!

Points, being the big difference. A level 3 daemon prince all kitted up with wings and power armor and level 3 psyker is 295 points. A level 3 sorcerer on a bike is 130 points. The sorcerer also gets to select all 3 of his spells from the BRB which means your chances of rolling the spell you want is better.

Also a sorcerer can join a squad as an IC. This lends him to a more defensive role, favoring spells for telepathy, while the DP will want to take biomancy to compliment his aggressive game play style.

If you take a daemon prince, you will be tempted to just fly him at your opponent by himself. Don't do this. It seems obvious, but a lot of people do it. 300 points of DP versus 2000 points of your opponents army is not a good match up for the DP. If you take Daemon Princes, take a few of them to spread out your opponents firepower, and take some fast units like spawn or bikes or flesh hounds or screamers or plaguebeasts or something.

Good points for the DP:
They can shoot twice. You can use Burning Brand of Skalathrax AND a Witchfire spell in the same turn. A Sorcerer can't do that (though Ahriman can).

DPs attacks are AP2. Put a Black Mace on him and attack at AP2 with it due to the Smash USE (and no, you don't have to "smash" to gain the AP2 benefit).

DP can fly. Wings means he can't be shot except by Skyfire until he's grounded. Provided you place him correctly, he can always fall into cover or out of LoS. If your opponent is shooting at him, he's not shooting at your Heldrake. Wings means he has better mobility on the ground. A 12" move and then assault, or a 6" move and he can re-roll his Assault distance.

DPs need to be played intelligently, so it comes down to how you use him

I prefer the dp since i use to use 2 back in 5th ed. Bbos on a dp makes him a more expensive heldrake.
