I picked up a Kirai crew second hand as my play group is looking at dabbling into Malifaux.

This is what I have

Kirai
Ikiro
2x Onryo
Datsue-Ba
5 x Seishin
2x Gaki
Shikome

I've looked over the M2E rules that were just droped for this crew but I'm still a bit puzzled on where to go/what to do. I know Spirits are her key, but I'm uncertain if the idea is to just summon them, or if they are the main type she starts on the table with.

Any advice from folks familiar with this crew would be appreciated.

Izamu and hanged work well in her crew. Both are spirits so they can benefit from her buffs, and are undead so they can help in bringing out Ikyro.

Lost Love is also a needed purchase. His heals are essential to the crew, and the added Malevolence bubble really helps.

So they nerfed Lost love badly and he no longer can be sacrificed to save Kirai. Is all he is just a minor healer and Ikaryu summoner now?

Whats the deal with the Avatar? Is it allowed in games yet?

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

1. All spirits can be used to take damage for Kirai now on a trigger. SS can buy suits, so as long as you have stones/the right suit and a spirit close, you can shunt even lethal damage. Frank can keep up with Kirai, unlike most other spirits.

2. Being "a minor healer and Ikaryu summoner now" is frigging amazing for 4 points, and having a two 8 inch bubbles of "Go ahead, try and hurt these models" is so worth it it hurts. Try playing with it and get back to me on it. Rather than "nerf", I'd say they've re-purposed Frank. And malevolence is so good that I would be hard pressed to take any other totem with Kiria, because it screws with your opponent's mind and forces them into bad decisions and hard choices.

3. Avatars are still in beta.

Having not read most fluff, I'm assuming you're calling Lost Love "Frank" because that was his name when alive?

Yeah I played a game last night. Holy crap I dont remember her summoning so much stuff. I need more minor spirit models. I started with 4 guys on the field and ended with 9 not counting all the ones that died during the game. The new Lost Love guy is alright, he was close enough to summon Ikaryu on top of Rasputina near the end while Kirai was way in the back supporting my main front line.

You're talking about the Seishin? I do hope they make a separate box for more once the crew is released. Although apart from the head, they would have been easy enough to sculpt.

So I have metal Kirai starter... would buying the plastic be a good move then since she apparrently likes to summon a lot of stuff?

Personally I would just buy extra gaki, seishen, and onyro. Maybe a shikome. Definately a Lost Love. Unless you want the different models, I wouldnt buy a new pack.

That basically covers the entire starter though, and I'd be getting a bonus Kirai out of it too (which I wouldnt use because I like the metal sculpt better) plus the faction cards... seems like a good deal to me?

And yes, Francis is the governor's son who was killed protecting Kirai, who became Lost Love.

Ah, at least it's Francis. Frank sounded a bit pedestrian for Wyrd.

The inclusion of the totems in the new boxes simplifies things, I think. I'll just have to see what I want to do with the new one, since I prefer the old one (and painted it only a few days ago too...)

Are the ME2 rules for Kirai available now?

You're in somewhat of a grey area. There was a PDF file that had them in it, due to the delay of the decks due to art work. those were since taken down, but the Wave 2 Arsenal decks are not yet in all stores. So, yes, but you can't buy them until next week most likely.

Ah well. A week isn't so bad. Although in Canada, with only one store that I know of carrying Malifaux, it might be a while.

Le sigh.

Jakuuna Ubume, Night Terrors, Drowned, and Izamu are all nice adds to a Kirai crew. Ive found myself needing lots of gaki in 2nd ed, so get more of those too lol.

Malifaux - Rezzers
The Other Side - King's Empire & Abysinnia
40K - Iron Hands

Yeah, I noticed that some triggers summon gaki on the spot of a kill, so I assume more than 2 will be needed. I'm a bit bummed that the webstore is still down. How weird is it that I have to go to a 3rd party website to see what products are available. I can understand a bit of maintenance, but it's been over a week now...

I can't find the exact comment I am looking for, but I heard that Flesh Constructs would make a good addition to a Kirai crew because of wound allocation? I've been trying to piece together that random bit of info with my reading of the Kirai card, I'm feeling a bit daft. Can someone spell it out for me, I don't get it.

And is it me, or are the Wave 2 arsenal decks still not out?

Wave 2 Decks are in my store in the US; I don't know if Canada has any customs issues.

Flesh constructs are cheap, have plenty of wounds, a decent move stat, and have a built in quasi-regeneration, allowing for even more wounds to be used for summons. Since they are a decent summon node, and have a low def, you can tempt your opponent to attack them. Attacking them can trigger Malevolence (Since Mal triggers off of undead or living friendly models taking damage), allowing Ikyro to be summoned.

Meeplemart is a Canada only store. Is that the only you're talking about?

Well I checked Meeplemart, as well as the only FLGS that stocks the game. Nary a Wave 2 deck to be seen.

And regarding the Flesh Construct, the post I had read seemed to indicate you could shunt damage onto the FC instead of Kirai, or some such. But just the possibility of getting Ikiryo to pop up next to it is sweet.

She can shunt attacks off of her, but only to spirits, which the flesh construct isn't. The "wound battery" comments in regards to the flesh construct are due to Kirai's summoning mechanic. She summons models in base contact with another friendly model and both models take damage equal to half the summoned model's wounds. With 13 wounds and a pseudo-regen, you can summon a lot off of a 6 point flesh construct.

Add some Drowned to that as well. They are spirits, as well as undead, and they are good at tanking melee. They are the cheapest undead spirits in the game, and work well with Jaakuna Ubume (also a spirit).

Oh, and Ikiryo isn't summoned into base contact with the target of the attack, Ikiryo goes into base with the *attacker*. A nasty surprise for a shooting list if they don't know Kirai, and it can paralyze them if they do know Kirai.

Drowned aren't plastic yet, eh? I'll wait until those come out as, realistically, I have enough to paint at the moment. I want Yan Lo too so that I can link between Kirai and the Ten Thunder fluffily. And budget says no at the moment.

I'd also add night terrors to your future buy list. They are really useful dirt cheap summons for reconnoiter.
