I've been developing a small 500 point list for a new local tournament that's getting me back into the hobby, and unfortunately I've been forced to utilise my favourite khorne units that have been nerfed in the recent changes to 6th Edition. So I wanted to try and create a somewhat competitive list. Here are some variations:

List 1:

Kharn the Betrayer - 160 points
5 x Berzerkers w/ Rhino - 140 Points
10 x Cultists - 50 points
2 x Obliterator w/ Mark of Nurgle - 152 Points

TOTAL: 502

(Note Kharn goes with Berzerkers)

List 2:

Kharn the Betrayer - 160 Points
10 x Cultists w/ Mark of Nurgle - 70 Points
5 x Khorne Berzerkers w/ Rhino - 140 Points
2 x Obliterators - 140 Points

(Note Kharn goes with Cultists)

TOTAL: 510

List 3:

Daemon Prince w/ Power Armour, Wings, Mark of Nurgle - 220 Points
10 x Cultists w/ Mark of Nurgle - 70 Points
10 x Cultists w/ Mark of Nurgle - 70 Points
2 x Obliterators w/ Mark of Nurgle - 156

TOTAL: 516

We have been allowed 20 points differential either way so the points aren't an issue. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Oblits with mark of nurgle are always a solid choice. Cultists should never be marked, it is better to either take more cultists or just let them hide.

Kharn is probably overkill for 500 points, and zerkers need to either be in a large blob on foot or in a land raider, considering they can't charge out of a rhino. You could always run pseudozerkers by taking CSM with the CCW and mark of khorne.

The demon prince will serve you well at low point levels, but the mark of Nurgle is terrible. Since you can fly, you don't really need the stealth+shrouded. Being slow and purposeful you can't sweeping advance, which is huge. It would be unfluffy, but mark of Tzeenech is by far the best. Alternatively, mark of slannesh is very good and cheaper than the others.

Ahhh I failed to notice daemon princes use their own rules for marks. And I agree Mark of tzeentch would be by far the best way to go.

It appears you prefer my third list, where I agree with your points. If I were to drop the nurgle marks what could I do with the spare points? As more cultists arent an option it seems i'd have to make my Prince a Psyker. I feel somewhat uncomfortable fielding a single model counting for about 250 points being half my army.

It is certainly an all or nothing build. I recently played a game where turn 1 I gunned down a tricked out tzeentch prince turn 1. If I had to go with upgrades, I would take something somewhat cheap but useful, like a burning brand. Then maybe a gift of mutation and ichor blood, or a combat familiar, or actually taking a mark on the cultists. It is high risk, high reward but I think it is still one of your best bets at 500

Everywhere at once..

Hey now, the mark of khorne on your DP is pretty.....okay. As long as you give him the ax of BF, wings and PA. ax for the S7 AP2 attack power and anywhere from 1 to 6 extra attacks each turn not to mention the ones he'll get from the MoK. He's truly a monster

I am changed . . . an outcast now.
