The Prussian starter box looked sweet. I know nothing about the game, price range, gameplay, etc.

I've been playing the game since it was released and thoroughly enjoy it.

I have the Prussian starter plus 1 infantry squad and medics.
I also have approximately 530 points of FSA.

The game does seem to be fairly pricey, but in my experience not as bad as either 40k or Warmachine. (My opinion of Warmachines pricing may be skewed due to my dislike of Warjacks and the Focus mechanic, and trying to build an all infantry force.)

The game does have a substantial amount of randomness, both in the dice mechanic as well as the use of a deck of cards used to activate a set of special abilities throughout each turn.

But, I find there is a bit more strategic thought than in most games because while the game is played with alternating activations for each turn, at the beginning of each turn both players determine the order they are going to activate their units, both forcing each player to develop a plan for their turn while requiring them to think ahead, and either building flexibility to counter the opponents plan.

I find that my games have been most enjoyable at 250 points or higher, in part because there are more activation decisions.

Currently the games inclusion of vehicles feels slightly different than many other games because it is extremely difficult to destroy them... But each vehicle is limited in its capabilities so it takes thought and planning to get full benefit from them. Each vehicle really only has a maximum of one good weapon, and these are always restricted arcs, and with a limited maneuverability it can be difficult to get the ideal target under fire.

If you have any questions about what I've said or want details then please ask and I'll work on being more succinct. The rules are available as a free PDF on the Spartan Games site and they have a good forum.
