Thought I'd see about trying a list with a heavy dashing of Forgeworld models. You'll notice a pretty hefty amount of pie plates (Barracudas, riptides and r'varna)! It isn't meant to be a super optimised list, but I wanted to see how much heavy firepower I could squeeze in!

- I figured the Barracudas + remoras will provide sufficient support for dealing with AA, AI and AT. Remoras will probably hover (3+ save!) and be used to boost to high priority targets.
- Commander will join the broadsides or a unit of crisis suits depending on opposition and deployment.
- Crisis suits will provide anti-horde and AT for the most part. Fusion blaster unit may deepstrike. Missile units will camp on objectives.
- R'varna will just be used to pie plate whatever the biggest threat is that turn.
- Broadsides will be used to delete nasty units with potential of 6 x BS 5 drones + Twinlinked + ignore cover from commander.

Any comments and criticism welcome.

I would drop Missle drones on the broadsides and take stim injectors on the R'VARNA. It's very cost effective on that model. Can you take crisis suits as troops without farsight? I didn't think so but maybe I'm wrong as I don't own the farsight enclave expansion.

You can play Farsight Enclaves without Farsight himself there in terms of bringing crisis troops as suits, but you've got to put bonding knives on everything that can hold one, have at least 1 squad of 3 crisis troops (not ever a problem really), but have to use signature systems from the Enclaves, which the MSSS is not one of sadly (though one of The Eight has it. Torchstar, if I'm not mistaken)

Ah, I had forgotten about the signature systems for the Enclaves... I may have to add the commander to an allied attachment of Tau, then add a with a squad of firewarriors and ethereal HQ for Enclaves then.

The problem I have with dropping the missile drones is that if I join the broadsides with the commander I'm getting 12 BS 5 twinlinked str 7 shots off that I can't see a 5+ FNP making up for. Also, the R'varna doesn't get FNP for its nova charge which is disappointing! Can you see anything else that may be less efficient use of points?

I understand the desire for the extra firepower as it doubles the fire power of the squad, however the reason I don't take drones is threefold. Firstly they are less tough than their suited brethren and therefore lower the majority toughness of the squad forcing them to save more wounds. Secondly when they die, which with only the 4+ armor they most assurably will, they will force moral checks very easily. If you have said broadside team near the board edge they will run off and you loose the whole thing. Thirdly I suppose you're getting bs5 from you commanders buff, he could be better served using marker drones. You don't have to drop all the drones, if you have a 1 to 1 ratio you could avoid loosing toughness and arrange them in such a way so you can take your 2+ armor. You could still afford your stim packs, regaining just one of you 6 wounds gets you your point back and then some.

But I am no troll and that's all just personal preference. Remora drone fighters what is their weapons strength? I heard they got a FAQ that made them strength 6, but at strength 5 I don't know if they're worth. They do however have a networked marker light and two seeker missiles if memory serves, so maybe worth.

Overall I like the list though. My necrons would hate it .

I can see where you're coming from with the morale... I had completely disregarded this previously and would definitely be worth considering cutting it to 3 drones in the broadside unit.

I'll maybe run the commander with marker drones plus a few crisis suits with target lock and MP to camp in relative safety.

I think effectively adding another two wounds to the r'varna with stims is the way to go with the remaining points!

And one more thing, do you know where I can find the most recent FAQ for the remora drones? Do they indeed have s6 on their guns or still just strength 5?

I'm not sure, the last I read was in the second edition IA, where it stated they were str 5 (from memory)
