are there any guides for assembling the terrain or models?

Not really no. For the models its mostly look at the cards to figure which bit goes where. The scenery is basically build whatever you like.

If you take a look around the Mantic section of this site you should be able to find some scenery building ideas.

Short answer: no

Long Answer: your best bet is too google for specific models that are troubling you, and finding third party guides.

Cynical Answer: Since assembly guides don't promote their current/next kickstarter, Mantic doesn't see the need to make them!
