Hello,
although i am nearly unbeatable in the lord of the rings strategic battle game, this is far from being the case in 40K.
I bought 40k models but never played more then 5 games. With 6th edition, the game seems more attractif so i would like to try to build an army wich is actualy capable of winning some games.
First problem is that i cannot deside wish codex to use for blood ravens: dark angels or blood angels.
As i have realy no gaming experience, i will just list the models i have and let you make something useful out of it.
I'm just overwhelmed by the amount of options.
Please help

Captain
Librarian
10 Sternguard Vétérans
5 Terminators (assault cannon)
around 40 marines, being either tactical marines, 10 assault marines, 10 devastators, 5 command squad vétérans
Drop pod
Rhino
Land Raider crusader or reedemer
Land Speeder
6 bikers + assault bike

With regard to Codex, you're probably better off with Codex: Space Marines than DA or BA.
BA codex is quite old (though probably a new one in half a year or so) so units tend to be more expensive than C: SM. DA is closer to the mark but if you aren't taking any of the special characters or special units C: SM gives you more options (including Sternguard, which aren't in the DA codex).

For the exact list, I'll have to leave that to someone else.

Thanks for the reply !
Yes, I already ordered the v6 codex but it seems they have transport problems.
Until i get it i will try to guess the points values by using the DA and the v5 SM codex, so please correct my if there is anything wrong.
I worked over a 1750 points list, please give your councils

HQ
Librarian 100pts
(psy level 2)

TROOPS
Tactical Squad 205pts
10 marines, flammer, missil-laucher, veteran sergent with chainsword and bolt pistol, rhino.

Tactical Squad 210pts
10 marines, multi-melta, melta, veteran sergent with melta bombs, drop pod.

ELITES
Sternguard veteran squad 275pts
10 vétérans, 5 combi-plasmas.

Terminator Squad 230pts
5 terminators, assault cannon,chain fist.

FAST ATTACK
Biker Squad 165pts
3 bikers, with 2 meltas, veteran sergeant with melta bombs, assault bike with multi-melta,

Land Speeder 80pts
with 2 multi-meltas

Assault Squad 230pts
10 marines, veteran sergeant with power weapon and combat shield, 2 flammers.

HEAVY SUPPORT
Land Raider crusader 250pts
with multi-melta

The Librarian goes in the Crusader with the Sternguard and they kill Elites, as well as the terminators. The assault marines deal with hordes, as well as the first tactical squad,
the second goes tank hunting, as well as the bikers and the land speeder.

Looks well rounded to me, only a few suggestions:

Veteran sergeant upgrades are usually not worth it in my opinion, keep it on the flamer tactical sarge (since he'll be getting up close to use the flamer) and the assault squad sarge but the rest are optional.

For the tactical squad in the drop pod, drop the multi-melta (it'll be firing snap-shots the turn it arrives, and will limit the mobility of the squad in subsequent turns) and give the sarge a combi-melta - they're about the same points I believe and it'll give the unit more punch the turn it arrives. Remember that you can combat-squad the unit and still ride in the same pod so you can send the two melta's after a tank and split 5 boltguns off to head in a different direction.

For the land speeder, consider deep striking it in games where you're going second. Unless there's a nice piece of Line-of-Sight blocking terrain to hide behind someone will krump it first turn (no Jink) for the First Blood victory point.

{Edit} On second look you've not got anything dedicated to Anti-Air, so if you choose to expand the army consider Storm Talons / Storm Ravens or a Stalker/Hunter.
