IG 750 Point Campaign Army (no vehicles except dedicated transports and walkers).

0-2 HQ
0-2 Elite or Fast Attack
0-6 Troops
0-1 Heavy Support

I got tabled in round one, which was 500 points, no vehicles except walkers. So I'm back for blood in round two. The mission is Fire Sweep, with five objectives. My goal was to maximize scoring units in a competitive army. In fire sweep the army deploys in 3+ detachments, deploying in different fire bases around the map. I'm planning to deploy in three detachments my HQ+platoon, Scions+vets, and the other vets in reserve. I plan to park my HQ in a corner and drop Master of Ordnance templates from the chimera all game, while shooting the missile launcher. I want to plant my Scions and vets towards the center, or opposite corner. I want to take an objective with those vets, and use the scions as area-denial or hunter killers, depending on the opposing team. For those who don't know, the volley guns are salvo 2/4 24" range S4 AP3, so they can snipe any infantry in the open. My other vets will come in from reserves and claim the nearest objective.

Depending on the enemy and cover available, I might just keep my units embarked until I need them to claim the objectives, and use the chimera's 5 fire points to deliver some damage.

I debated the master of ordnance, but decided the potential upside outweighs the points cost, especially in such a small battle. Power fist and carapace armor are because I'm now paranoid about the enemy scoring STW, since I cannot seem to keep my CCS alive in a mission, plus this mission gives them 2 VPs for STW. My PCS will probably sit on an objective and just order Incoming! all game long. My infantry will try a massed infantry assault on the closest enemy strong point.

Any suggestions?

one minor one, don't put the upgrades costs it can get the site in trouble.

now as for your army it seems strong. but you lack any major anti-tank. also will there be air-craft as if yes you need some AA of some description.

The only vehicles allowed are ground dedicated transports and walkers. No flyers allowed. I figure that I can do drive-bys with my melta vets. If there's anything too pesky. But at 750 I'm not expecting a lot of tough vehicles on the field. My big problem last time was against bikers, which is why I opted for the scions and meltas.

then your list will be a pain in everyone's side. maybe swap your melta's for plasmaguns if bikes are proving a problem more shots that still kill marines.
