I'm not a big Necron fan and i don't have the codex but my friend asked me for help since I have more experience than him on warhammer 40k. But as i said i'm not a Necron person but i have still put a list together as i wanted to help him. I didn't know what to put together but i have read the codex and got tips off the web but i think i have done it wrong. The tac was the royal court backed up the gun line as obyron teleports over with the tichguard, while the rest of the army shoots and Zahndrekh goes up in a command badge and just kills stuff (all close combat stuff gets locked up with enemy close combat troops basically). it's probably all wrong with the wrong combos and be a complete and utter mess, so if someone can point me in the right direction then that will be a great help thanks.

Straight up :

Doomsday Arks. They're terrible. Well not terrible just really inefficient. Think of it this way. for 25 points more you can get a Monolith. Just way better. Functionally and otherwise. Or you can get a more efficient unit with the Annihilation Barge.

You're playing at some high points at 2500 almost low end Apoc, Escalation.

The Necron Warrior 10 man squads are footslogging, they need some help there. They're great sure, but let's make em come at me brah squads.

They need some support from the Royale Court adds. You've got 50 of these guys, but they'll get chewed up. If you're playing that many points investing in some ghost arks or Nightscythes is gonna make these guys way more mobile

5 Deathmarks, rough. Again they have no transport. Sure they can deep strike but other than that not much. Think about again a Nightscythe.

Lychguards, meh. I can them or leave them. I don't particularly care for them but at that many points.. may as well go in for a penny in for a pound and put more points into them or get rid of them.

The Royal Court.

Really expensive 1 wound models that can be picked out. I'd suggest spreading those points out and maybe taking some more Royale Court people.

Scarabs are cool why take 6 when you can just take 10?

Basically the army needs a lot of mobility.

You of all people, give some of the worst advice I have ever seen on the board. OP, just look at some of the threads this guy has created, and then either put him on ignore, or filter out all of his advice.


Doomsday Arks are not that good. They are entirely dependent on having no LOS blocking terrain on the field, and are the worst heavy support option in the codex.

You can get nearly two annihilation barges, for the cost of a single Doomsday Ark, and they will serve you much better.

The main question I have, do you allow IA12 and/or Escalation in your games? There are some excellent choices there, that you can use to fill out an Army at 2500 points.
