Hey dakka I was wondering if someone could help me. I tried searching on the forums for 1850 dark angels list but there seems to be only one for Ravenwing.

I currently play fantasy so I really have no clue about how 40k works. I want to get my foot in the door but I'm not sure what kind of models to buy since Idk I will be using them.

I know for a fact that I want to play deathwing dark angels and the tourney near me play at 1850 pts. I have bought belial and a box of deathwing terminators.

Could someone just throw out generic competitive lists for deathwing dark angels so I can have an idea on what to buy?

I did some research about it on Google and I heard IG is almost necessary as allies in order to be competitve? And something about land raiders. The army doesn't have to be exclusively deathwing. Just mostly deathwing.

Well, 2 LR Crusaders full of deathwing is really mean
That'd be a good start for you

Are knights worth it? Some people say they suck and some say they are good.

that's because people have a love hate relationship with them. They don't work like normal termies, they can actually take hits thanks to their wall of shields special rule. But they need to be used right. Deathwing take time to learn and master and they can be good if you have the patience.

Also in your free time experiment with mixing ravenwing (bikes, speeders) with terminators for an angry one-two combo they can be brutal if you get the mix right

DA army: 3500pts,
admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts

Thanks for the insight. I don't know if I want to build them or not. I don't want to make the same mistake that I did in fantasy.

I bought blood crushers first for my daemon army cause I didn't know anything and they looked cool. After playing for awhile and realizing their suckage, they barely come out of the box now.

A knight can be a game-changer but like he said it just takes some skill and practice using them. It also almost always better to not use the Paladin and use the other one (cant remember the name of it)

That second troops choice by Deathwingsergeant can be swapped out for Knights as the exact same point cost. Knights can be a hit or miss but when they hit...they hit hard and can take on just about any opponent!

I'd definately swap out the heavy flamer squad for a Knight squad and stick them in the LRC with Belial. Rush it up the board and charge straight out of it! nasty!

The amount of damage the Knights can inflict is good and they'll make short work of enemy troops squads, especially with the Hammer of Wrath aswell, fair enough its very hit and miss but it all helps in the grand scheme of things!

If you do swap them out for a squad of Knights perhaps exchange a CML for the Heavy flamer though as its a must when deepstriking and taking advantage of the twin linked rule.
