So we're playing our first game, and we can't work out how people actually die. It seems you only lose aggression?
So, how do you die?! We are using the starter box stuff.
Edit - found it.

Oh no!
I'm... too late, he's... dead, Jim.
Glad you found the rule - it is pretty easy to forget that the Aggression is your wounds in Deadzone.

Wait what?
Aggression is not your wounds. You get one wound, then dead.
Aggression is your pinned / suppressed, etc state.
You get hit with a shoot. The number of shoot successes greater than the number of survive success is the number of wounds. Armor can take care of some of them, and AP can take care of some of the armor. Whats left after armor / AP / tought, etc is the total wounds.
1 wound, injured. 2 wounds, dead.

Yeah, there's a nice page about injury and death.

I honestly have no idea what was running through my head when I wrote that - I think that I had been up for 36 hours and running on fumes.... I might have somehow crossed with Kings of War, managing to be completely wrong for both systems in one swell foop.
Obviously though, I need to play more Deadzone. (It has been weeks since I last played - and my girlfriend clobbered me.)
I have been playing a lot of Kings of War - 1,500 points of undead against my girlfriend and her mum with a combined dwarf army of 1,000 points each. The first game was a draw, the second... could have (would have, most likely) been a draw, if I could have had just one more turn....
But I have only played a few games of Deadzone... four... maybe?

I watched a demo vid on Beasts of War, and was happy to see that we got very little wrong on our first game. Seeing someone else discuss wounds/death made it all click.
Next game next week hopefully!

Try playing in the campaign setting, then you'll really understand the difference between injury and death. I think I have maybe 6 games under my belt, 3 standard and 3 in a campaign setting. The stand alone games are great fun and you can play as aggressive as you want but man does that change in campaign. Each loss hurts and it hurts even more once you've taken the time to name them and level them up. Either way great fun.

I get really attached to named things... I don't think I could cope with a campaign!

We have not yet tried the campaign game - but that looks like where the real joy is.
And, yeah... naming the characters makes it hurt more - when Tommy Bodkins loses his leg in the Mordheim game it means more than when Minion #3 - the One With The Feather In His Cap dies. (To be replaced with the new Minion #3 - Who Also Has A Feather In His Cap....)
Once you start naming them then it is just like naming a puppy - the character is now yours....
