Question for the masses...

what does Gee-Dub-yah mean by "the unit may still take drones."  Its the final line in the Tau Empires Codex under the Advanced Stablization System Wargear entry.

Do they mean that the drones would benefit from the ASS as well as the suits?

Broadsides with Marker Drones come to mind...

Nah, as the Drones don't have the stabilizers, they don't benefit from Slow and Purposeful. S&P isn't an USR that all members of a unit automatically get if some of them don't.

The 'may still take drones' part is so people don't claim Broadside drones can't be used since they can't take the ASS. I suppose you could argue that taking drones on a Broadside means that the ASS can't be used at all.

No. The drones simply move at the same speed as the suits, ie, as if they're in difficult terrain.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Somewhere in south-central England.

Supplementary to that, when Broadsides use their ASS, what speed do they go? The BGB's USR section says typically the best of 2 dice, but the codex does not specify for the ASS equipped suit.

I assume the best of 2 dice. Does anyone have an opinion?

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Yeah, it's the best of 2 dice. Slow and purposeful. Just like in difficult terrain.
