Subject: IG 1500 counts as Inquisition: Trouble with Troops
I'm playing guardsmen instead of henchmen mostly for the sweet tanks, but the theme of the list is an Ordo Hereticus taskforce. The problem is, I can't figure out precisely what to run as my troops.
Initially I figured I would run all vets as the Inquisition would prefer hardened fighters over newbies. If you've earned a spot in the Inquisitorial stormtroopers you've seen your fair share of flak. However, a friend of mine is convinced that mechvets can't work and I have to spam over 100 guardsmen to stand a chance. (He plays horde guard, unsurprisingly.) I'm looking at the following two lists.
LIST 1
Spoiler:
CCS (carapace armor, medi-pack, Deathmask of Ollanius)
For what it's worth, I typically play against horde guard and horde marines. I've tried to theme the list around being able to handle both cultists and chaos marines so I can kill ALL the pesky heretics.
Does one of these lists look particularly stronger than the other?

I would go mostly with the second list except I would make that second squad vets so it is like half and half.
I would say get rid of the flamers unless you are against nids or you are having them come in behind the enemy with a valkyrie becasue you will get picked off.
For horde armies I use the Punisher. (str 5 ap - 20 shots) Never went against guard with them but they rip through nids and are decent against marines but the executioner is another good one
