Hey Dakka world,

I'm a relapsed Warhammer 40k nut. About three years ago I realized I wasn't playing anymore and I didn't have the time to put any effort towards painting or modeling, and so my beloved Orks, Tyranids and small Imperial Guard force (I guess they have a new name now, but it's not stuck with me yet, they will probably always be imperial guard in my mind) all made the unavoidable trip all models eventually make into the next generation of wargamers at my local club. Then, about a month ago I came across the new Dark Vengeance boxed set. I've never been a Space Marine player (I spent most of my games watching them systematically remove my armies from existence in a flurry of bolter fire and tank rushes), and I always thought Chaos all took themselves too seriously... but the set had a lot of promise, and when I found out my wife was going to be going on a work trip for a month, I went out and bought back in. After painstakingly reassembling a working collection of modeling/painting tools I set about fixing and cleaning the models... and I'm hooked again. It will be interesting collecting a Space Marine army, I have a lot of fun ideas for what direction to take it, and narrowing it down is going to be a lot of trouble (especially since all my ideas involve not playing Dark Angels, so there's a lot of very specific iconography I have to carve off). I hope to use this forum to improve on my somewhat lackluster painting skills, and eventually, if I develop the guts to post some of my fluff ideas, a sounding board for fleshing out a believable back story for my army... I mean seriously there's so many things I did not know about Space Marines before I opened the Codex, I mean, Space Marines have extra organs? Who knew? And the stuff they do? Crazy

Anywho, I'm really excited to see my spare time and spare change become an army that I'm proud to play... now I just have to find someone else to play with, in a brand new town, in a brand new country, where my only friends are not the type of people I would ever try to bring into this universe.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome to Dakka, friend.

Yes, those Space Marines are quite something. I collect Blood Angels, and I suffer from the same problem you have in terms of people to play with. My friends aren't into that sort of thing, and I rarely talk about 40k with them unless they ask me questions or it's relevant to the conversation.
I wish you the best of luck!
